My Top 10 Best Games for the PS3

The Bottom Line These are ten of the best PS3 games that I have played.
I have been playing my Sony PlayStation 3 video game console for almost a year now, and here's my top 10 best PS3 games. I know there are more great games out there, but these are the ones I have played. I list them in no particular order. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare With its modern weapons and Middle Eastern setting, this is one of the best first person shooters ever made because the online play is darn near perfect. It has just the right balance of weapons and features, and the maps are all brilliantly designed in a way that makes no place safe to hide. It's much better than the current release, Call of Duty: World at War, which went back to World War II and wasn't as much fun. Battlefield: Bad Company When it comes to first person shooters on the PS3, this one is my second favorite, following Call of Duty 4. This game also features modern weapons and a foreign setting. It is different in that the maps are much larger and you can drive a variety of vehicles around. I think it is a more difficult game in terms of skill, and therefore somewhat more realistic. Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion You know how some video games can be completed in 8-10 hours and that's it? This is NOT one of those games. Oblivion is a rather appropriate title for a game that will keep you busy for months if you do all the side quests and explore. This RPG is set in a huge world and there's a ton of stuff to do - almost too much. Be prepared to be overwhelmed. Soul Calibur IV How can you not like a fighting game that features Darth Vader and Yoda? This is the ultimate button masher that features dozens of fighters, tons of customization, and even online play. With that much content, how much you play is limited only to how much physical endurance your hands can take. Ten minutes of non-stop fighting and I'm already getting cramps. Resistance: Fall of Man This was one of the first shooters for the PS3 and was made exclusively for the console. I really enjoyed the alien invader twist to the game, and there's a bunch of cool and unique weapons to help keep in interesting. On top of the, the maps are designed really well and make for a fun online multiplayer experience. Singstar Yes, I am putting this singing game on here because I think it is the ultimate party game. It comes with two microphones and plays music videos so you can sing karaoke-style. My wife and I have brought this game to several parties and it is always a big hit. An added bonus is that it lets you go online via its own community and you can watch videos of other people laughing and singing, the results of which are often hilarious. Burnout Paradise This is the ultimate car racing game that goes above and beyond anything put forth in the previous Burnout titles. It takes place in a huge city where you can freely roam around looking for races or challenges to accept. It also employs a multiplayer component that ties directly into the main game. You can play this game for hours and just touch on what's available. On top of that, there's a ton of extra content you can buy and/or download online. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Although I wasn't a huge fan of this game, I still appreciate the effort that went into making it a rather unique interactive experience. It is as much a movie as it is a game, with many long cutscenes to tell the story, plus a ton of action. The gameplay is innovative almost to a fault because there's so much you have to do, but it has plenty of moments filled with fun. Online multiplayer action is also very well done. Check it out, if you have not already. High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition If you like poker, then you need to get this game. It is available from the PlayStation Store for just $9.99 and is a load of fun. You play poker online with other people, and it is EyeToy enabled to so you can see and speak to other players, if you so choose. I've had many interesting late-night sessions with the players on there, and you can always find a table to join. Best of all, the money is all virtual, so you can just create a new player and start over if you go broke. Fallout 3 The PS3 version of Fallout 3 is actually the worst one as far as content and graphics when compared to the PC or Xbox 360 versions. Although it is best played on a PC, if your only option is the PS3 then you should still get this game. It's is one of the best RPG's ever made for any system. From the setting to the story to the graphics and sound, this is top-notch all the way. It'll keep you busy for many hours.
