The Bottom Line Performance of Intel Socket 775 processors and rebuttal to the Epinions community.
The Intel Socket 775 line of processors and motherboards are an exciting offering that if configured properly can yield a very powerful home or office computer. Recently, I wrote a series of reviews of these processors to help you find the perfect processor for your needs. In these reviews one fact kept popping up, memory setup is terribly important. If you are using single channel memory, the computer will not respond well to any processor you install because the RAM bandwidth is not high enough to respond to the needs of the system while browsing webpages or crunching SETI workunits. I crunch SETI workunits with all my computers. Since, I do this most of my processors have a unique tag that proves I owned them at one time. My account is registered under the name Reuben Gathright and can be found here: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_user.php?userid=3337509 In a recent review of an Intel Core 2 Duo 3333mhz processor that I absolutely enjoy watching crunch SETI workunits, I the esteemed part-time software developer for the world’s largest distributed computing project and integrator of over 15 database systems including a resume of work for Blue Cross Blue Shield and every casino chain in North America, was accused of plagiarizing a series of reviews. I have been waiting for this day since I joined this site and I will begin to lay down the facts like an evil genius hell bent on taking over the world. First, I bought an Intel Celeron 352 for my dear friend who wanted a new computer. In this review we discovered the baseline performance of a Socket 775 processor. The motherboard only had one channel of DDR ram so it could barely function as a web browsing computer but when installed in the more powerful MSI MS-7528 motherboard it came to life. I do have a problem. I have no digital artifacts to prove that I own this processor. I ordered the processor from Directron.com on Feb 1 08:29:36 CST 2007 with order number 1079054. I paid $59.99 for the processor. Next, an Intel Pentium 4 630 processor was installed in my friend’s computer. I do not have any workunit results because after the computer was benchmarked for the review, I quickly brought it to her house, but I do have an Ebay auction under my account name: Sochracing that I purchased it with. Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290322960164&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:US:1123 Next, an Intel Pentium D 915 processor was purchased on Ebay for the purpose of finding a more powerfull processor for my friend’s computer. The processor did not work in the Microstar PM8M3-V motherboard because the microAtx powersupply was not powerfull enough to even start the processor. The power supply came with the DYNAPOWER TITAN-C07.M3.15A1 Micro Atx 200w Power supply computer case that I reviewed and did not like because it was to hot during normal operation. Here is a link to that one of processor’s SETI workunit results: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=1281451036 To test the performance and see if I could build a SETI computer that could operate as a standalone PC but overclocked, I pulled a spare Intel Celeron 356 from my parts bin (working in IT for years has given me a large computer parts collection) and installed it in my MSI MS-7528 motherboard. The SETI results for this processor were very poor and the RAC (recent average credit) was not high enough compared to the Intel Pentium D 915. Since the processor was last used on June 25,2009, I cannot find any SETI results for it, so here is a screenshot that I published for my friends to see, yet again proving that I own this product: http://picasaweb.google.com/RGathright/KoiOverclocking#5351213062266443314 Finally, to see what the ultimate processor in the MSI-7528 motherboard would do, I bought an Intel Core 2 Duo E8600. Using SSE4.1 instructions has made my daily RAC in SETI jump on this computer. The processor is still being used today and here is link to a SETI workunit result: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=1294579153 Here is a link to my Ebay auction for the processor: http://buy.ebay.vn/buying/vn/display/300325135366_Intel-Core-2-Duo-e8600 These tags and links are proof that I had the processors under my care and ran tests on it for the benefit of reviews. I unlike some people can afford to buy my own equipment because I have money. I hope you enjoyed this dicussion and hope to never have my weath status and intelligence as a computing professional questioned by the Epinions community ever again. I wrote these reviews for the benefit of my colleagues in the distributed computing community. My contributions can be traced back for over a decade. I hope these discussions help members of Epinions who care to actually read my reviews. I have little time for defamation of my online character in my busy life and was left with little choice but to publish this review publicly. I hope you rate this favorable with the understanding that I did not sleep last night because I was worried about having my Epinions account canceled due to the alleged infringement. WHEW. P.S. I included links to the reviews so that can get more income share which I will use to purchase more processors and review them, so please click on them. |
