Stephen we still cannot SAP anything to Computer Hardware and I think it is bringing the whole website down. I currently have seven products waiting for review in Computer Hardware. I sneak them in once I see a listing but it takes a long time.

How about Computer Hardware Top Reviewer's that do not submit new content for over three months at a time?

How about Computer Hardware Advisors that do not rate for longer than three months?

I still have Not Helpful ratings on my hardware reviews, long after I proved that I owned and used these products.

The whole Computer Hardware section of Epinions.com is a blight on an otherwise vibrant community.

Very Helpful based on your body of work (Reply to this comment)

I too am a fan of the Socket 775 system - to me the components are priced in the "sweet spot" of the market right now. I have been building 775 systems for over a year now, 2 core & 4 core.

I think these give all the performance 99%+ of all users need now.

I feel your pain as far as frustration with some of the "Titled" reviewers here.

Although this article did not have as much "meat" regarding the 775s as I would have expected, it is VH in the context of all you have done.

Thanks for your work.

it's historically true that Electronics has the most dough for income share, but the top Magazine and Newspaper review earned about $20 more than the top electronics review last month.

I wonder (Reply to this comment)

if it is because electronics is the most lucrative domain on epinons that it has the most vicious raters and ranters. Plus 3 CLs yet no SAPs and lack of products sold (presumably to lots of people) at Costco.

like you had to defend yourself, too, but perhaps such a defense would be better suited to the Epinions Community Center and not the product page.

the need to take the time to defend yourself. But you did a very good, respectful job of it. I hope with all the VH's and comments on this you now feel more people trust you that not:-)

Ouch! A public comment which questions the veracity of your experience/content must really sting.

Not just with YOUR review, but I always wonder why members rush to judgement, and let's face it, sometimes a false accusation is just as damaging, by making public comments rather than attempting to contact the member in question via email when they feel a review is suspect.

Although Reuben, it doesn't appear your credibility has suffered. Probably because you have earned yourself a good reputation.

I like George_Chabot's advice: BFD. Yep! What he said!

You may do as you wish by all means; I have no wish to control anyone. Lord knows I have enough trouble controlling myself at times. I simply wanted to assure you that your review did not and does not warrant a ticket according to the site rules.

As far as letting the rebuttal fester...
I personally do not care how long this article stays on the site, I myslef have not removed any of my own reviews since the E.B.D write-off (for those who do not remember the write-off, it was in Nov. 2001 hosted by Sordid-1). The longer the review stays on the more IS you make so I would advise to leave it here permanently.

Just keep the posts civil and we're all good.

Wrong, if some of you actually read my reviews on the Socket 775 processor, one would find that the duplicate appearing text was done on purpose to allow shoppers to make quick comparisons. The headings and motherboard specifications must remain the same if the reviewer is making claims that processor X is faster than processor Y. I was raised to do my research using the scientific principle. My hardware white papers during college appeared the same way but within, the reader found the core analysis did change. The content of these reviews change with the processor but the goal was to examine performance with one motherboard. Tom's Hardware and other professional review sites do the same thing.

In the un-updated series of reviews, you will find specific performance comparisons for each processor at the end of the Performance Testing sections.

I will admit that if all I did was scan through people's reviews in 5 seconds looking for faults, then ALL my processor reviews would be suspicious. However, if we look at the rating behavior of the rest of the Epinions community we see that no one else rated my Socket 775 processor reviews below Very Helpful. The ratings come from a broad range of experienced, advisors and leads who can read reviews and have demonstrated the ability to also critique them when necessary. No one changed their rating. My reviews of processors were strongly rated before June 9, 2009.

Going forward, will my processor reviews appear the same? Yes

Why will your reviews appear the same? To aid the consumer and to steal the satisfaction of controlling someone away from the Advisors. Unfortunately, the motherboard, memory, hard drive and benchmarks must stay the same if I wanted to post a fair comparison. I did spice up each review with long, unique discussions on the processor.

Will you make an effort to post reviews on Epinions of products you own? Yes and I always have. For some people to post automotive reviews of products that they do not own is appalling to me. Those people have had no corrective action for their similar content layout and trivial period of ownership. I know why I was singled out here and that is why I am letting this rebuttal fester. As a business professional and manager, I have fired employees who exhibited signs of scorn towards their coworkers.

Will you post more reviews? Not until some questions about IS on Shopping.com are answered.

I don't think you have to worry about any tickets. I think the issue that was had with your review was with copying parts from your previous reviews and mixing it in with the current review. It is something that a lot of people do and it is not against the site rules as of yet as long as you have at least 100 words of unique text in each review. However, chosing to employ this form of writing may attract criticism.

I for one do not believe that you intentionally did anything wrong, but to avoid any misunderstandings in the future you may want to avoid copying anything from your past reviews when at all possible. Just my thoughts.

Accusations (Reply to this comment)
by AliventiAsylum
should never be made without clear proof.

I can remember an incident a few years back, well ingrained in the memories of people who were members then. A lot of people had a pretty good idea the person was playing a game, but no one did anything until there was definitive proof. To just put an accusation out there that someone "has to" be lying because they don't see how something could happen is totally wrong, especially coming from a lead.

Chin up, there's enough people in this community who do appreciate information such as yours. Take the high road and just keep doing what you're doing.

through this. It's appalling that someone would accuse you of such a thing.

Your contributions to Epinions are invaluable, and you're a nice guy to boot, so despite this shoddy treatment, I hope you stay.

you had to prove these things. If you test and use these processors for your job, you would not have to even buy them with your own money! I have read many reviews of items here that folks have access to through their employment, but obviously do not personally own themselves.

Take Care (and sleep better tonight!)

are lots of wankers here. Don't worry about it. Anybody who knows anything about something has no need to fear the wankers who happen to have rank, for whatever reason, God only knows. I write about cars and motorcycles sometimes and there is a hierarchy there, too. BFD

Take care -
