Thank you!!! (Reply to this comment)

I can't thank you enough for such a thorough explanation of what to expect. I have the EXACT same thing... started small.. and is now the size of a grape. Mine has not burst, so hopefully it won't be a bad removal. The doctor (a few years ago) even told me they're easier to remove when still intact. I believe he said they "pop right out".
Thanks again - you really helped me make the decision to call the doctor and get this thing taken out. (And I'm tired of telling people who wash my hair at the salon that "I have a bump". LOL)

But I bet you're glad to have that whole mess behind you. Thanks for an informative if not slightly nauseating article!

Thanks, ladies. When I was searching for information on the web I couldn't find a blow by blow of the recovery, so that is why I decided to share this story.

I hope the surgery went well for you. I am so glad that I had it done. It was a tough few days, but it was worth it.

I go tomorrow to have a cyst removed off my head. Mine is toward the back of my head, and I can't tell how big it is..it seems to be about as round as a dime...and as high as one finger compressed against a table..(not very high). I've had this cyst for at least 2-3 years now. I'm having it removed because its growing, it became inflamed about a month ago and that was the worst..couldn't brush my hair, couldn't touch... and now its getting in my way. I bent over to get in my car for some reason the other day, and the cyst hit the top of my car...stupid thing is still sore!
The nurse told me 2-3 days at home at least. She said considering the size, I'm not gonna be feeling good afterward. I'm hesitant..but its gotta go!
Thanks for your input...really opened my eyes as to what I'm in for!!!

I'm sorry you had to go through such an ordeal! I had a basel cell carcinoma removed several months ago which was quite pain free and then an ingrown toenail removed.
I thought you were magnificient in dealing with this and am glad you're doing OK.
Take care of yourself! :)

....goodness, that sounds like a horrible ordeal. I'm glad your cyst is gone now, but sounds like a difficult time for a while there.
I'll bet your kids have a new appreciation for Mama and all that she does. I think children see us as invincible and it is good for them to realize that sometimes we need help too.
Glad you're feeling better....make it a great day...kath
