Thanks for your wonderful response! Special Olympics--something also very near and dear to my heart--was made possible by the Kennedy family (especially, Eunice and Ted), which has resulted in those people with special needs being treated like valid and worthy individuals by today's society (overall, at least--though there are still some ignorant and spiteful people in the mix as well).
Blessings!

I disagree a lot with Ted Kennedy's politics, but one thing he had right, was that he was on the right side of history with civil rights. We are a better nation because of the Civil Rights Act, which was a moral value, and proof that "All Men and Women are created equal." I put women on that on purpose, because by all men, really means all men and women, but you know how some twist that statment.
Ted Kennedy was far to my left, and you are right that he was far from a role model in many ways. I'm troubled by that incident in Chappaquidick, but you are right, that God will ultimately judge him for that. However, what he did since then to make amends for many people, must be looked at as well. For someone to write "I hope he roasts in hell" is not appropriate, as we all make mistakes as human beings. We are all sinners, and not perfect in any way, even though sometimes we think that.
Thanks for this well written work, as he should be admired for the good he did do. His work with sister Eunice, helped so many with disabilities, which has helped turned society much more accepting and better on so many levels. Appreciate this, because like I said I didn't agree with him on many issues, there's no denying his compassion for people. May he rest in peace,
Mike
