I unknowingly made a late return of a brand-new still shrink-wrapped textbook for $205. I kept waiting for my return credit, which didn't show up for over 30 days - all I could see on my account was "RNC" listed as the status of the order. (There was no description of what "RNC" meant.) I e-mailed customer service asking for the status of my return and never heard back from them. I finally tracked down their customer service phone number and spoke with a customer service rep. She stated that my return was late ("RNC" means "Return No Credit) and someone from ecampus.com contacted me once via e-mail. I informed her I did not recieve any e-mails from them and she insisted that they sent it. I then asked how I was going to get my book back, since I apparently still owned it. She said I would have to pay for shipping to get it back. I asked to speak with her supervisor and was informed that that person was at lunch at the moment. (One supervisor for the whole United States customer service??) I did recieve a call back from the supervisor and she gave me even worse news. I couldn't even pay for shipping to return my book because they resold it. What she was going to do for me was "go against policy" and issue me a $50 credit (on a $205 book.) Wow. Great. Thanks so much. No amount of reasoning with this woman got me anywhere. I understand that I made a (huge) mistake in sending the book back past 30 days. However, from a customer service standpoint, I can't believe they would just let a $200 book sit there and not try to get in touch with the buyer. The system allowed me to print a shipping label, which told me that the return would not be a problem. (Today I tried to print another return label just to see if the system would let me, which it did not. It stated the return would be past 30 days and that I could not print a return label.) Terrible customer service on their part. I will never purchase a book from ecampus.com again. I think their service is terrible and their dealings shady. Compared with the customer service I receive from other retailers, I am embarrassed that I was stupid enough to order from such a company, and that they now have $155 of my money, free and clear. . . is this how they generate revenue??
