Glad you liked my essay, and I really like your Rabbi's words of wisdom. I haven't seen any pictures of you, but I know that you must be beautiful in every way that counts based on your comment!
Shalom!

Powerful piece, and so correct on numerous levels. I can't tell you how much I agree with you on the "Self-Fulfilling Prophecy". So true how one can become ingrained to failure or triumph, and our words and actions especially with developing children and young adults must be handled with care.
And yes, I'm totally in love with Susan Boyle. Look forward to her becoming even more of a star-she really showed them that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and she has a gift from God that cannot be denied.
Great job,
Mike

Very moving... (Reply to this comment)

I especially appreciated your comments about Susan Boyle. As one who doesn't have hollywood looks myself, I feel I've had to work twice as hard on my personality (being kind to others) and talents to get "noticed" by my peers.
There's no excuse for abusing others verbally. In addition to your great analogies, there is one my Rabbi always uses (which also applies to gossip) ~ it's like taking a feather pillow to the top of a mountain and releasing the contents. You will never be able to gather all the feathers up and stuff them back inside ~ just like unkind words, they take a life of their own.
I enjoyed your essay :)
