Today 09/09/09 is the tenth anniversary of Epinions.com. WOW!! That's quite a record when one thinks of all the dotcom failures that have occurred over those same years. I celebrate the 09/09/09 anniversary date with... 9 Reasons I enjoy and keep writing at Epinions.com 1. I started because I enjoyed sharing my travel trips and tips through writing as one would share photographs. That has grown to where I now write pieces in the Writers Corner about family and personal experiences as they effected me at the time. Every year I go back and read my piece about my experience with my wife and one daughter as we made our way down to Ground Zero as the smoke was still rising and false hopes were still alive that lost loved ones might still be found. 9/11/01 Never Forget 2. Getting Feedback on a review via comments show me, "somebody out there" is watching. Sharing views of reviews is a highlight to me. 3. Getting IS, (Income Share) on a review. There are other sites out there that offer up-front money but I love following my review and noting it's value over time, day by day, month by month and year by year. A posted review without life afterward is like tossing coins in a dirty wishing-well never to be seen again. 4.Trusting the site to keep up their end of the bargain. After seven years on the site I have never had a problem receiving the money owed me. Sure there have been some checks that were two weeks late but Epinions followed through each and every time. (Even replaced a check I lost, no prob) Epinions has also been kind enough to give some sort of holiday bonus over the years I have been here. How many online sites do that for their community? That's why Epinions is my home even after many a call to other sites. 5. Following statistics on the site is a huge draw for me. I love following the MPA, MPR and TER. (Most Popular Authors, Most Popular Reviews, Top Earning Reviews) It's both a game and a challenge that keeps me focused and continuing to write. 6. I enjoy the monthly Contests, Sweepstakes, and the Promotions to help others like the Soles for Souls. When I first started there weren't any contests, then we had a monthly with one, one hundred dollar card toward Ebay as the grand prize. This has grown over the years and to date we have had up to three money making opportunities at one time dispersing thousands of dollars in a months time, New promotions keep happening. 7. Some of my best Epinions experiences were the Meet 'n Greets I was able to make. I was privy to meet community members and Epinions Management twice in NYC and once in DC. There's something special about face to face talks along with warm hugs and handshakes. It's good to know that management cares enough to take the extra step to hear your input. 8. Being a General Moderator on the boards has been a very special privilege that I hold near and dear to me. Though I do joke around all the time, I do take the position very seriously. It's been an honor working with and for the community in that fashion. 9. I love being part of an ever changing and always growing community. I enjoy the people I have been privy to meet over the years. I truly feel blessed for some of them. It's been a sad journey at times as we lost dear friends but the joy of meeting new people on the site is an ever pleasant and fulfilling experience. Thanks to all of you that I talk with and share with on a daily basis or once in a while and I give very special thanks to all of you that I know I can call, "My friends."
