I like the flexibility of playing music/video on multiple devices without having to register the device (or limiting the registrations I'm allowed). So i'm a big fan of Amazon.com's MP3 downloads and just about anything outside of iTunes. I REALLY wanted to like Audible.com but I'd much rather purchase audiobooks through iTunes than use the Audible service again.
Problems: * I received several errors when downloading.
* The format is not a high quality
* They use a proprietary file type that requires their proprietary audio manager to download and transfer files (i don't need more bloatware, just let me drag and drop!)
* Their website was difficult to navigate
* The download manager doesn't automatically download all parts to a book. For example, I purchased a three part Stieg Larsson book and only 1 of 3 parts downloaded. I had to go back into their site and find the other 2 parts and download them individually. I'm very glad I checked the playtime on my iPhone and noticed that I only had 7 of 20 hours downloaded, I'd have been more upset if I ran out of book a third of the way through my drive across the country.
* Their download site goes down. It happened to me when I tried to download parts 2 & 3 of my book. iTunes and Amazon MP3 never go down.
Benefits: * They do have a toll free customer service line.
Problems w/ the Benefits * I was dropped from the customer service line 3 times (after several minutes trying to get the representative to understand the spelling of my last name).
* Customer service wasn't very helpful.
