Gasp! (Reply to this comment)

You mean Swedish fish aren't really from Sweden? I'm shattered! I grew up in Texas, and I should be able to think of at least one big idea:)

If you ask for Swedish Fish in Sweden they will most likely give you a jar of pickled herring. Swedish Fish is not sold in Sweden and is made by a Canadian company. However, a Swedish company developed a similar fish shaped candy for the North American market (under another name) and the idea was taken over by the Canadian company. Most Swedes know nothing about this.
Yeah it would be great if you came up with something for Texas. Thanks

Sounds like fun (Reply to this comment)
by adriennefoster
My great-grandparents immigrated from Sweden, does that count?
The last time I visited Texas was in 1997 (well before I was even writing on-line reviews) and the only Swedish things I could think of that would qualify for your writeoff are Abba, Ikea, and ludafisk (sp?), none of which are in my categories. (...However, I tried some lingonberry juice last night and I'll be making Swedish meatballs Christmas Eve....)
I'd love to participate, but may not get around to it. You'll hear from me if I post anything appropriate, though.

Abba is actually the inspiration for many Swedish death metal groups. They grew up listening to that and went oh god, noooo, I want to listen to something completely opposite!
I'm waiting for a death metal cover of Dancin' Queen
(children of Bodom a finnish death metal band did a cover of Britney's Ooops I did it again!).

Hey Texas-Swede. Here is my review of a concert by In Flames! As you probably know, they are one of the founders of melodic death metal right from Gothenberg, the heart of the Swedish death metal genre. I just picked up a 2 DVD set by them from 2005 with two concerts and several live clips.
The DVD is In Flames Used & Abused In Live We Trust and the link is
