i a suprised that not any rakim song made it to top 50 despite him being heralded by many(including you)as the god emcee.does that mean that technical skill doesn't necessariy equate to great songs?or do pple annoit rakim god just because they want appear cool though they don't believe he is the greatest?or is he just overhyped ?i mean check his album sales many rapfans would wax lyric about how they can't wait for his next release(seventh seal).only for the album to sale infinitesmall numbers

Rain Water is a great song, but just not good enough to make top 100. I def like the song, along with a handful of other Ali songs.

Thanks a lot

GG conveyed my sentiments perfectly. Instead of just giving soulless appraisals to "Paid In Full" or "The Symphony," you did your own thing here. Yeah, I don't agree with every choice, but f*ck it, people are supposed to have different opinions about lists like these.

I'm glad you saw that. Yeah, this is def MY list, but I managed to merge it all together! I love Paid in Full AND The Symphony, but they just aren't in the top 100. Top 200 though... perhaps.

Understandable, but I loved Slippin. I felt that song THAT much. But oh well, I'm glad you sat through it.

Well, we talked about it a bit on AIM. It's harmonic rapping to me man, that's what it is. There are two verses, ghostwritten by Left Eye, performed by T-Boz with a smooth beat. It's on Flash's site - that counts!

Well yeah, I didn't force it. I mean, there are great songs such as Fight the Power which is powerful and Paid in Full which is inspirational, but to me, they just aren't the BEST songs.

It's like with We Are The World and/or Heal The World. Great Michael Jackson music with a great message, but are they within the top 10 MJ songs? Hell no, not to me. Are they even in the top 30? No sir. But they DO have good messages.

I'm interested in what kind of songs you would add/remove from the list. Call in Wednesday if possible.

Thanks again

Great list, great job on the articles. I know this is YOUR top 100, so I'm surprised you didn't include Brother Ali's "Rain Water" anywhere in the list. Why's that?

Lots of folks will put lists together and add songs that they don't necessarily feel, but if they omit them they think people will judge them. You didn't do that and I think that's the best part of your list.

Do I love DMX's Slippin? Not really. But this is your list and you didn't fake the funk.

Great job here,

Great list! Your Top 20 is especially good. The only songs that I could make an argument that should not be in your Top 100 is "Creep" and "Slippin'" (although "Slippin'" was DMX's best song).

Great job again,

Though I'm not sure how TLC is purely hip hop (my only disagreement in the entire list is having them on it), you did a great job with this list.

I might've said this already, but what stands out to me about your list is that the list is all about you.

Again. Good job.

Some surprises here and there but I loved what you choose for #13 and #10. I don't really have much else to say...

I knew number one was gonna be "Sky's the Limit". Great choice though... as was the whole entire list.

I'll be there on Wednesday to discuss the list.

Peace

Haha! Thanks Jason. Yeah, I mean, it was a toss up but Sky's The Limit is my anthem and has been for a long time. It's one of the most inspirational songs ever (but you have to remove that stupid intro with his mom).

Peace
