Sorry for not putting out any picks last week. I took my Mom to Shreveport for a surprise birthday trip last weekend. We had a great time, but I had no laptop to get my picks posted. Below are my picks for a colossal bore of an NFL Sunday. Please feel free to leave your comments.
401 Minnesota Vikings at 402 St. Louis Rams
Vegas Line: Vikings -9.5
LHM’s Line: Vikings -10
Minnesota comes into this one undefeated and looks to remain so after the final whistle blows. However, whether or not the Vikings can cover this spread remains to be seen. The Rams took a shellacking last week from the 49ers last week, but Minnesota pulled off a win last week against Green Bay. Green Bay handily beat the Rams the week before last by 19 in St. Louis. Minnesota will probably be able to cover the 9 1/2, but this one is by no means a lock. I like the Vikings over the Rams by 10 on this one.
403 Dallas Cowboys at 404 Kansas City Chiefs
Vegas Line: Cowboys -8.5
LHM’s Line: Chiefs +4
I’m leery of predicting the Cowboys to cover a spread this big after their performance last week against Denver. On the other hand, the Chiefs also stink. I think this one will turn out to be closer than anticipated.
405 Washington Redskins at 406 Carolina Panthers
Vegas Line: Carolina -3.5
LHM’s Line: Carolina -4
The Redskins are the team that ended the Lions’ losing streak and Carolina comes into this on winless. Both of these teams are winless against the spread this season. This is a real coin flip. I’ve got to take Carolina because they’re coming off of a bye week to play at home. However, if the line moves above 4, I have to take the Redskins.
407 Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 408 Philadelphia Eagles
Vegas Line: Philadelphia -15
LHM’s Line: Eagles -15
I think Philly can nail this one at home. Fifteen is a stout spread, but I think the Eagles can make it happen.
