Apocalypse / Ashes

The Bottom Line --------------

A lush garden valley
A thriving metropolis
A small country town
The location doesn't matter

Before breakfast
During the hunt
Every minute of every day
The timing doesn't matter

A boss
A little-known acquaintence
A bully
These people don't matter

The warnings
The signs
Something in the wind....

.... or maybe there's nothing....

But it comes anyway

In some places, it comes hard
It comes fast
It comes strong

It destroys everything it touches in one foul swoop

In other places, it destroys slowly
It eats away slowly and methodically
Taking it's time, it seems to be enjoying this

How it destroys,
That doesn't matter
The destruction is still there,
Still devastating.

Not everyone can see it
Only the enlightened few

Maybe they know what they're looking for
Maybe they've seen this before
Maybe they just feel this more strongly than others.
That doesn't matter, It will do it's damndest to take them down too

Sometimes, It wil succeed

But It cannot destroy everyone
One person, maybe more, can always stand up
They will take whatever It can throw at them,
And say, "You will not get me.
Even if I fall, I refuse to stay down."

And they do fall.
Eventually, they too are reduced to nothing.
But then a miracle happens.

"Nothing" begins to glow.

A fiery bird, the mythical phoenix, rises from the ashes
As it flies, it turns to look at what remains.

In the midst of what is now a barren wasteland, more phoenixs begin to form
The birds ascend deep into the sky, stronger, more powerful beings than would ever have become if not for It

In the wasteland, a lone seed begins to sprout
