The Bottom Line ' Lean-n-mean VIII ': bigger, better, . . .and much nicer peeps running the big show this time around...
... hey there all... Yes, it truly does not seem possible. But soon it will be time again for 'Lean-n-mean VIII'. Unfortunately, this year I will be busy with work tasks during the middle and late part of November. So I have decided I will not be doing 'Lean-n-mean VIII' this year. . . Instead, I have asked a couple of my close friends on the site to 'sub in' for me this year. Jennifer and Grace have graciously (...and somewhat unwittingly unaware of what lies ahead I might add) agreed to co-chair this year's 'L-n-M' carnival . . .I mean 'write-off'. Despite my jokingly telling them I would publicly excoriate them for stealing my idea . . .instead I will publicly thank them for graciously and unselfishly accepting the challenge I presented to them. Well, not me ...the challenge of the write-off I mean. I am handing over the keys for 'Lean-n-mean VIII' to them without hesitation and without reservation. It is their project to run from beginning to end. I have no doubt they will do an admirable job. Update: Grace and Jennifer have published the 2009 'Lean-n-mean VIII' invitation essay: It's ba-ack! A (sleeper-free) "Lean-n-Mean VIII" You know what you want and need to do . . .so go do it already..!! My only request of you, my dear reader, is that you support their efforts and 'Lean-n-mean VIII' as strongly and as positively as you have 'lean-n-mean' efforts in past years. I know that writing at Epinions and participating here as a community member has been challenging over the last year. The in-progress transition to a new platform and design for the site has stressed both the corporate side and the writers who provide the 'life-blood' of the site. I hope each of you takes the opportunity of 'Lean-n-mean VIII' to recapture what might have gone missing for you over the last year or two. Anyway . . .that is it. New hosts and a bit of regret on my side that I will miss so much of the 'fun' of doing yet another 'lean-n-mean' write-off. I will definitely participate and look forward to seeing record numbers of reviews by record numbers of writers covering every category on the site. So please, make Grace's and Jennifer's kind offer of assistance easy to fulfill. I have no doubt that each of you will find your participation this year as rewarding as you have at any time in the past. Thanks to all for your past and future contributions.
