Great review! (Reply to this comment)
by reginafug, in Hotels & Travel
With direct flights from Luanda to São Paulo, and the fact that I'm almost fluent in Portuguese, makes a visit to Brasil highly desirable (it's been on the list a long time).
...and I'm discovering how narrow the world view is that I was given by my U.S. public school education.
Completely agree with that statement.
(Plus I get to eat better, dance better, and meet hotter women...is this heaven?
And, your wife doesn't mind? Heh!
Enjoyed,
Regina

Thank you so much for this. Bill and I are dying to go to South/Latin America, now that we've been deported from Europe! Thanks for the awesome tips! I'll be re-reading this after our Caribbean cruise in April.

Awesome! Sao Paulo has more than plenty to keep you and the kids busy, but I do hope you get a chance to see some of Brazil's other spectacular sites --- I'd especially make Iguazu a priority (it is simply spectacular!)
Buen viaje, amigo!

Re: See Robert Duval Tango! (Reply to this comment)
by mrkstvns, in Hotels & Travel
I saw "Assasination Tango" some time ago and really liked it...the movie did a pretty good job of capturing some of the flavor of Buenos Aires in an accurate and respectful way (besides, Duval is simply a huge presence in any film...it's tough not to appreciate the guy).
That reminds me of another great tango moment in cinema (albeit a bit absurd). Steve Carrel dancing a tango with the fat Russian woman in "Get Smart" --- hilarious!

sort of MH review is the reason you are one of the big dogs around here. I got to get down there and check out the stuff you mentioned - beer, women ... was there something else?? ;> Most Excellent if I had the button, bud. :>

See Robert Duval Tango! (Reply to this comment)
by frebo3
Another great tango movie is "Assassination Tango", written and directed by - and starring - Robert Duval. His co-star (and off-screen partner) who is from BA learned to tango for the film. Duval has been doing it for years.
You can read about the film online at IMDB and order it from Netflix.

I've been offered the opportunity to study abroad in South America, and reading your writeup really makes me want to go NOW! And your comment about Arnold in True Lies may just be the encouragement I need to finally attempt to learn how to dance... maybe.

South America (Reply to this comment)
by texas-swede, in Hotels & Travel
My wife was born in Sao Paolo and her parents have many friends in Brazil, Chile, and other South American countries. However, I have never been to South America. We are hoping to go to Sao Paolo next summer.
This review was certainly an educational and thrilling incitement to travel to South America. My hat off to you sir.
