In less than a month on December 17th I'll achieve ten years of writing reviews for epinions.com. This post will be my 1560th entry and I'm slowly closing in on a million total hits on my mostly book, movie and music reviews. Perhaps by the 17th I'll make it, huh? I've seen many changes in members, staff and site development, as well as with my writing style, but I'm still hoping for more helpful changes in site development that will make my reviews easier to find by consumers. This is a serious need still after all this time for media reviewers perhaps in particular. The site developers may not feel they're terribly important or profitable, but I suggest that it is those reviews that help us to stay together as a community. Reviews of books, movies and music allow us to know how others think of the world and what they value or don't. They encourage bonds of friendship. I'm announcing my write-off to celebrate my ten fairly successful years here (TR hats help) and calling it the Peregrine Ten write-off for several reasons. Recently I discovered a slew of great books at my local library about peregrine falcons and have already read one, Wings For My Flight: The Peregrine Falcons of Chimney Rock. I've never before been so proud to be a Peregrine. My review will be posted immediately as part of my write-off and you're welcome to submit reviews of products about peregrines (mostly books), which may also include books by or about people named Peregrine. It can be the first, last, or a fictional name as in Peregrine Hodson, Peter N. Peregrine and The Adventures of Peregrine Pickle. You could also review products with 10 or Tenth used in their title or make top ten lists in whatever you like, including my reviews! Be creative. There are other movies besides the Charlton Heston and Bo Derek ones at your disposal. Write-off entries, perhaps ten of them, may be submitted from now to the end of the year by providing your link in this post's comments section. I'll be most interested in reading reviews about peregrines (and about myself which is the same thing really), but will try to enjoy all entries as much.
