I have been shopping at J&R Music and Computer since before there was the word Computer in its name -- it used to be JandR MusicWorld, and there used to be no such thing as online shopping or home computers. How many of you young folks can remember that? Anyway, I find that with J&R the best thing to do is shop around first for the best price, and then call them on their 800 number and see if they have the item, which they usually do. And if they do, they always have the best price or they'll match the price you found. Of course, since I live in New York, with J&R I always have to pay the sales tax which is not so nice, but the trade-off is that delivery is always speedy. There was only one occasion where the item I got -- a cd player for my stereo -- was not operational. I called them and got an RA number right away and was able to return the item, and get a credit card credit without any problem.
I recommend JandR without hesitation, but I would caution that their online catalog is not complete. If there is something you want that you don't see give them a call and they are more than happy to help. If you are in New York, by chance, I recommend visiting the store. They offer free two hour parking with a purchase, which in New York is a definite plus.
