I started shopping at amazon.com when it just sold books and shopping online was a new idea. And I've got to say that I love amazon. I am a big reader -- I read about 3 books a week so I have to have a constant supply of new material. Also, sometimes the things I read are a bit obscure and hard to find, and amazon has never disappointed me -- made me wait while they searched, but never disappointed.
In the beginning before the world caught on, the delivery times used to be better and the customer service was speedier...but I still find the amazon experience positive, and the books come fast enough. I have only gotten the wrong book once and I have never had the experience of not getting something that I ordered.
The website is easy to use, clear and fast. It is also very intuitive. I like that they recommend other similar stuff when you order something although most of the time I don't take their recommendations. I generally have a fairly good idea of what I want. I also appreciate that with the books they publish summaries of what the book is about and reviews from Booklist and similar sources.
I am also a jazz fanatic and have bought many cds through amazon. Again they are a good source for more obscure and older recordings. A nice feature is the preview of tracks. I do wish they were longer than 30secs or 1 minute, but what can you do. With jazz especially, I appreciate the reviews from other listeners.
Besides books and cds, I have shopped amazon for toys and appliances and in both cases the ease of use, the descriptions, and the shipping have been good. The prices for appliances are not always the best, but since there is no sales tax and often there are offers of free shipping on appliances, the total price works out the same or better than competitors.
Two other nice features of amazon are the one-click ordering, and the ease with which you can check your account the status of orders and package tracking.
I guess you could say, I am a very satisfied amazon user. The prices are good, the shipping is satisfactory, and information about your account and the status of orders is readily available.
