I just bought something through Red Envelope for the first time this year, and you're right - the packaging is beautiful. Actually, I wanted to see the gift before I gave it away and discovered that I could not recreate the bow they did on the box. Oops. But your point about the receiver just throwing away the box is a good point... and $5 is a lot for a box!
