The Bottom Line A Newbery Medal is awarded annually to the children's book considered the most distinguished of the previous year. This is a current list of reviews for all recipients.

The Association for Library Services to Children, a division of the American Library Association (ALA), awards The John Newbery Medal to the author of the most distinguished contribution to children's American literature for books released the year before. This award was initially given in 1922 to The Story of Mankind and it was the first children's literary award ever given. It was named after John Newbery who published children's books in the 1700s. The Newbery Medal and The Caldecott Medal are considered the two most prestigious awards for children's literature in the United States.

If you are looking for reviews on any of these books, expect to find several for most while some of the more recent books can have several dozen reviews.  I have made a concerted effort to identify the most conspicuous and most populated link for each in the Epinions database. This will be pinned to the top of the Children's category in the Books section of the Message Boards. It will be updated as necessary. Newbery Medals tend to be awarded in January. I will also keep this link visible on my profile page and hopefully these will provide easy access to the books.  Many have less than five reviews, several have no reviews.

Epinions provides a section with Newbery Awards but it's not in order by date received. This list only provides links for the winners, not the honor books.  Inclusion of honor books would make this an unwieldy and much longer list. (A similar list for the Coretta Scott King Awards has also been generated.)  Visit the American Library Association's awards and grants section for a comprehensive list of honors.
