After dining at a friend's house where the delicious roast beef was cooked on the George Jr. Rotisserie, my husband and I decided to buy one ourselves.
I'm rarely fond of gimmicky appliances - it seems they usually end up stored away and seldom used. But I've got to say, the George Jr. Rotisserie is ready to go at a moment's notice in our kitchen! We've used it regularly since we purchased it a couple of months ago.
I've found that meats cooked in the George Jr. are absolutely the juiciest and tastiest I've ever managed to prepare - every time! The food browns evenly, without burning. And of course watching it turn while slowly cooking as the delicious aroma fills the house is all part of the fun. I've caught myself gazing intently into the rotisserie, hypnotized, drooling....oh yeah, gotta fix the rest of the meal, better get going!
You'll find that this appliance is very simple to assemble and use. Here are the attachments that are included:
Rotisserie Bar Assembly - This is for cooking large cuts of meat such as roasts, whole chickens, turkey. Two 3 1/2 lb. chickens can be cooked at once, or even a whole 13 lb. turkey.
Adjustable Flat Basket - You can use the flat basket for cooking smaller cuts of meats, hamburgers, porkchops, etc. or seafood.
Roasted Veggies/Air Bake Basket - The air bake basket works great for cooking potatoes and vegetables, oil-free french fries, and even works for frozen french fries.
Skewers - There are six skewers included for cooking shish kabobs, hot dogs or smoked sausages.
The George Jr. also gives you a handy rotisserie remover tool that makes it extremely easy to remove the hot rotisserie.
But is it easy to clean?
Amazingly - yes! The rotisserie bar assembly is a breeze to clean. The grease drip tray slides right out for washing. The inside of the unit can be simply wiped off, and the viewing door comes off as well if necessary to make cleaning easier. I'm surprised that grease doesn't spatter more all over the inside, but it's been very minimal (even with fatty roasts), so that makes clean up easier. The flat basket cleans up well, especially if you use a non-stick spray first.
Something to consider:
The George Jr. Rotisserie must not be operated directly underneath a cabinet or shelf. The heat vents out the top rear of the unit, and it does create a good deal of heat. So be sure you've got a good spot to use it. By my measurements its footprint is about 12 inches by 18 inches by 12 inches high.
The George Jr. Rotisserie is an appliance that gets regular use in our household. It's worth making space for this one!
