Ease of Use:
Pros:Excellent for jogging with infants/toddlers. Well-made, excellent on rough terrain
Cons:Doesn't fold, unless you disassemble it, and is still extremely bulky. Only one seat position.
The Bottom Line: Great, well-made stroller for exercising and off-road, but make room, since it is bulky and hard to fold.
We got the Baby Jogger II, 16" wheels as a baby gift 3 years ago, and have probably used it at least once a week ever since.
It is a wonderful way to exercise, especially since all 3 of us can go running together. We've also used it on hikes, and in the winter, to get over icy and snowy city streets.
The seat seems to be comfortable-- it keeps the child in a semi-reclining position, secured by a 5 point harness, but it is more conducive to sleeping than for wide-awake adventures-- at age 3, my son is constantly having to re-adjust himself to remain seated upright, as there is no back support in that position (imagine sitting up straight in a LazyBoy)
We live in NYC, and it handles the hills in Central Park wonderfully. It's easy to push while running (less so as the weight of the passenger increases!) and has a wrist strap and brake you can set while stationary. The basket carries enough for an expedition to the playground, which is often where we end our jog. Steering is a little tough- it does not handle curves very gracefully and has a very wide turning axis-- more often than not I find myself lifting up the rear wheels and pivoting it on the front wheel if I am making a turn indoors (a supermarket, for instance)
My biggest complaint about the Baby Jogger is that is does not really fold up. You basically need to disassemble it-- you have to remove the front wheel-- to get it to fold flat-- and even then it is very bulky. It takes up a lot of room in our Manhattan apartment, and takes over much of the back of our Subaru Forester, unless we totally disassemble it. I have seen other baby joggers that fold for easier storage, and wish that Baby Jogger would find a way to make theirs do that too, provided it did not diminish the stability and durability.
One final thing-- there are several companies that make winter accessories specifically for BabyJoggers- we use one called a Cosy Rosie, that is a fleece blanket designed to fit the stroller. It helps keep the child warm and keep all the other blankets from falling out.
