From now on, the name of the narrator appears in italics at the top of each section Jarinder My name is Jarinder Fyth.  I am from a species known as The Quires.  The story I am about to tell you is the story told to every Quire when they reach adulthood.  It was told to me by my parents, to them by their parents, and so on back through the line, until you reach The Survivors. The Survivors are a group of elder Quires, the only ones not to be destroyed by the war that changed the course of our history.  The war fought with The Zews. The Zews are an evil race.  They have massacred many races, destroyed many worlds.  They justify this by claiming to be cleaning up the universe, destroying those who pose a threat to peacefulness across the galaxy.  Some worlds, they did not destroy, they conquered, and have enslaved the inhabitants of those worlds to help them in their supposed cause. For a long time, The Zews went unchallenged.  There was simply no-one powerful enough to stop them.  Until they came across us.  They tried to destroy us under the same ridiculous justification they used to butcher all those other races.  But we had a vital difference.  Technology.  Technology that was unable to stop The Zews completely, but enough to force them to fight.  It was a long, bloody war.  We lost many Quires, but The Zews ranks were also highly decimated.  Unfortunately, many innocent species suffered in the process.  When The Zews had destroyed every other Quire, The Survivors decided the battle had to be taken elsewhere.  Any more carnage to our home planet would mean the end of our species.  Unwilling to let that happen, The Survivors took off into the deepest reaches of Space, heading for a place known as Ghystria.  Zew headquarters.  The Survivors knew if they could destroy Ghystria, it would obliterate all Zews once and for all.  They never made it that far.  The Survivors were followed by The Zews, and the battle raged.  Both sides were equally as powerful.  We tried hiding on other worlds, planning our next move, but we were always found and so the chase resumed.  Yes, we freely admit that this tactic may have cost the lives of many innocent species, as would have the explosions from our battles across Space.  This is regrettable, but we stand by the decisions we made.  We had no other options. But at some point, five powerful beings known as The Galactic Guardians decided enough was enough.  The Galactic Guardians comprise one representative from five powerful races across the universe.  For the most part, they are simply watchers.  They let us sort out our own disputes, but their primary function is to keep peace as much as possible.  No-one knows why they never stopped The Zews, or why they never interceded in our war before they did.  Some say they only rose up because of our war.  Whatever the reason, when they did intervene, it was in a way that stopped the war completely.  They created powers that were strong enough to defeat both Quires and Zews, but could not be harnessed by either race.  The mandate of these powers was that they could only be harnessed by one who was truly pure of heart.  One such being was found, and the superhero Naturia was born. Naturia’s powers were simply too strong for either of our races to handle.  She put an end to the war, and The Survivors returned to our home planet to try and rebuild our race.  The Zews returned to Ghystria, and we all thought that was the end of it.  Their reign of terror had ended. We were wrong - one of few mistakes in Quire history.  We should have kept an eye on The Zews.  We should have anticipated their next move.  However, we believed we had done our duty.  We had fought off the evil and although neither side had won, we believed The Galactic Guardians would step in again if they were needed. However, the next move by The Zews was one that no-one could have predicted.  They discovered the true identity of Naturia, and killed her.  In doing so, they were somehow able to capture her powers.  They would never be able to harness them, but it appears these powers have now been passed on. When we realised what The Zews were up to, we knew we had to get back into action.  We sent a fleet of our best warriors to Ghystria, who never made it there alive.  The Zews must have been anticipating this, and had Ghystria so well protected there was no way through.  Our forces were destroyed before they could even approach.  So now we pursue The Zews across the galaxy, desperate to find a way to stop them, before they annihilate any more planets or species.  To destroy them completely, we first need to re-energise our forces.  That requires a power source, several of which were hidden all around the galaxy by Quire ancestors many generations ago, back before even the days of The Survivors.  No-one knows where these are, or how many there are.  What we do know is that one has been found on a planet called Earth.  It must be retrieved, no matter what the cost. Unfortunately, this may not be as easy as it sounds.  Naturia has been spotted on Earth, which can mean only one thing.  The Zews have found a being on this planet who is pure of heart, but who knows what lies they have told her about us?  There is a good chance she will destroy any Quire she comes across. I am a scout Quire.  I have been trained from a young age to seek, to follow, to discover.  While many of our warriors are currently battling The Zews over in distant galaxies, the other scout Quires and myself were sent to find power sources.  Having located one on Earth, my mission was simply to pinpoint it’s exact location, and wait where I was until warrior Quires could arrive.  I was close to finding the location when I discovered Naturia.  Reporting back to my superiors, my mission was drastically changed. My orders are now very simple.  Go down to Earth and assume human form.  Take the identity Jason Graygon, and find out who Naturia really is.  While she is in her Earthly form, destroy her.  Doing this will allow us to capture the powers of Naturia, and pass them on to a pure-hearted being of our choosing, and with her help, defeat The Zews once and for all. However, I do not yet know how things will play out while I am here on Earth.  I am reluctant to destroy Naturia when I may simply be able to get through to her and tell her the truth. My name is Jarinder Fyth, on Earth as Jason Graygon, and I am assigned to destroy the one being who could save the planet from certain doom.
