The Bottom Line Some times to keep it together you've got to leave it alone.
Lisa speaks. I had no intentions of telling you my age or discussing it at all. I had no intentions of telling you any of this that I'm about to tell you.. A lot of this I haven't even told Lori. I usually tell her everything. She probabley has some idea, but.. It started several months ago when I came back from Japan. I had found out that I didn't have cancer and was almost ready to spread the great news to Murdock when I got papers served to me. They were divorce papers. Ben, the one that gave me the papers, also researched and found out that Murdock was remarried. I was hurt and furious. When I got back home I and the rest of The Five broke into their apartment to observe what was going on there. The rest of the guys were living there, too. The next day Hannibal came over to break the ice. He wanted me to know that Murdock never wanted Pam, his new wife, he wanted me. I agreed to a meeting that went really well. By the end of the meeting Murdock and I were back together. The next day Pam sent a biker guy to kill everyone in our house. He had no idea what he was getting into. No idea at all. I took him down and decapitated him with my shamshir. The next night she went FIVE biker guys to do us in. This time Lori and I both took them down. She went into the dining room and got two katanas. She tossed one to me and we both went to work. My clean up crew came in and took everything away. No trace was left of the biker guys. Murdock acted proud and happy. A few days......this is hard for me to say........I came into the kitchen. I heard Murdock yelling. He was in the back yard. As soon as I got to the door, he fired a shot right between the eyes of my neighbor's dog, Max. I was deflated like a balloon. I watched as Jethro, Max's brother dog come up to him and tried to wake him up. I was crushed. Those dogs had been next door since they were puppies. The kids always played with them. I backed away quietly from the door and ran out the front door. I stood on the porch tied up in knots. I couldn't cry or scream. I was just locked up. Soon Mrs. Rodriguez came running around the fence. She was crying and shouting for me to come over. She was trying to tell me what had happened. I didn't say a word. I just came over to her back yard. She had carried Max to her back porch with Jethro whining and howling in grief. I watched the blood stream from Max's head then I picked up the dog's head. I whispered in his ear to come back. I told him it was alright. Soon he looked up at Jethro. The two black labs began playing together as if nothing had happened. Mrs. Rodriguez hugged me and thanked me over and over. She knew of all my so called abilities. That's why she called for me. Healing Max didn't heal my insides. I would never be able to forgive Murdock nor would I ever ask him why he did it. The kids could play with a dog ten times their size. They could ride an Irish Wolf Hound as if it were a horse. So, it couldn't have been because of them. The next day I came down the stairs and tried to act as if nothing was wrong. Murdock was coming out of the kitchen holding a glass of milk. He never smiled or greeted me in any way. Suddenly he blurted out that he wanted a divorce. I felt punched in the gut. I tried to brush it off as a joke, but he said he was dead serious and shoved papers at me. They had all kinds of rediculous demands in them. I was reading them as I passed him to go into the kitchen. I immediately got a feeling he was going to grab my arm really hard. He was shocked when I caught his forarm. I told him if he valued the arm he would never try that again. I also warned him that when Sal got through with him, he'd be living in boxes. He told me he had to go back on the road and do his so called missions. He said he never realized what kind of monster he was married to until he saw me and Lori kill those bikers. Once it soaked in, he was sick to his stomach. All this time he had accepted what I was. He even hugged me many times while I was covered in other peoples' blood. He said they were taking the van and that was all. I told him that it was for sure that was all. I also told him he could have the jet. I didn't want it. By this time I was hating him so much that I was about to explode. I never told him that I had bought two jets to travel in and one drone to cover up my trips. He tossed me the symbolic "key" that I had given him for the jet. My feelings toward him are dead. I can't go back to such a man. If he can kill a dog so easily, he is not the man that I met and married. I am an assassin. I kill evil people bent on hurting the lives of good people. That's what I do. that's what I've always done. Now I just want the divorce to be over as soon as possible. I'm sure Sal will see to that. He'll make demands that Murdock will have to agree to. The kids don't blame me. They are on my side. I guess it was supposed to be the icing on the cake, but he said he was taking Pam. When the kids found out they were livid. Their father was giving up their mother for a nobody. She couldn't even cook. We are leaving for Japan early tomorrow morning. If I've caused you or your hospital any damages, I will take care of everything. I just wished that I could have seen Greg before I left, but I guess I can't have everything. "Lisa, I'm not mad in any way. I knew from the beginning that you wouldn't talk about your age. You seemed like you needed to get things off of your chest. I wish you could stay. I'd love that." Cuddy said with tears in her eyes. "I can't. I have plans in Japan anyway. All next week they are filming a whole new Ninja Fighters series and the kids and I are going to be a part of it. I'm glad to have something to look forward to." Lisa stood up. "It was good to see you after all these years and I wish you luck. I heard you adopted a little girl. She's a lucky kid." "That doesn't compare to your eight." A guy's voice came from behind Lisa. She turned around comfused then her eyes got as wide as a kid on Christmas morning. "Greg!" Lisa yelled. They hugged each other tightly. "I feel like I've died and gone to Heaven." Greg said. "It's so good to see you. What's this 5 o'clock shadow? I see you're walking pretty good. You look great. You sure are a sight for these sore eyes." Lisa said. Her mind was racing. "I heard you say you're going to Japan. Can I go?" Dr. House kidded. "Sure. First class or coach?" She kidded. "Doesn't matter as long as I get handicapped service." He smiled. He took her head and kissed her on the forhead. "I really didn't have SARS." "No kidding. I sure wish I had more time to spend with you. We could have talked about old times." Lisa said. "These few minutes were worth millions. Maybe I'll see you again after your trip to Japan." Dr. House said. Lisa smiled trying not to show her thoughts. Cuddy had never seen House like this before. He was almost human. "Yeah, that's a good idea. Now that I know where you are." She never told him that she wasn't coming back for a long time. She never told anyone. |
