We had a great experience with Quicken Loans!  We refinanced our mortgage for a lower APR (4.875%), shorter term (from a 30 yr to a 20 yr) and lower monthly payments.  (Can I get a whoo hoo?!)  In the beginning, we were a little unsure since everything was handled on the phone and on the internet (rather than in-person).  We found, though, that at every turn we were being alerted by phone, e-mail and website updates as to what was going on, what step of the process we were in, what was still needed to move things along, or whatever.  The majority of the time when I called Quicken with a specific question, I got a live person, but the two times I had to leave a voicemail, I got a return call within a couple of hours, and everyone I spoke to was very helpful and knowledgeable.  We also thought that the "hand-offs" between our initial Quicken reprsentative and the closing team, and then the closing team and the bank who will be servicing our loan going forward all went very smoothly with plenty of advanced notification.  I never felt like I didn't know who to turn to with questions/concerns.

The only minor hiccup in the process was when the notary public came to our home to have us sign all the closing paperwork.  The notary was not a Quicken employee, so he didn't have any information pertaining to the refinance and couldn't answer questions for us about the specifics in the paperwork.  This meant that we had to follow up after the closing with a Quicken rep, which - again - wasn't a huge deal, but it might have been nice to have either the notary republic be a Quicken rep or to have a rep there in person (or on the phone) as well.

Overall, we were very pleased with the experience and feel like we had a smooth, quick experience - especially given all the nightmare scenarios I've heard from friends with other lenders.
