I first heard about Ross-Simons from my sister's mother-in-law. I was about to be married, and my sister told me that this was a great source for china, silver and crystal for a great discount.
When I visited the site, I was pleased to find that they had all our selections. I was able to do a gift registry online, and although I suspect that my sister's mother-in-law is the only one who ever bought from them, I was sent a complimentary gift certificate.
After my wedding, I used the gift certificate to order a butter dish. Unfortunately, the order was lost. Then when it was found again, the butter dish was on backorder. I was given an additional amount in credit for my trouble, and I was able to order cappuccino mugs to match our china. The cappuccino mugs arrived quickly, at no cost to me.
I still had not received my butter dish, so I called customer service. I talked with a gal who usually did not work customer service, but the warehouse instead. She personally walked over to the warehouse and found a butter dish for me. I got that butter dish within a few days.
About a week later, I received yet another butter dish. I called to tell them of the error and find out how they wanted it sent back. They told me just to keep it. I now have two butter dishes.
Now, I admit, at this point I have yet to spend an actual dime with Ross-Simon. I keep checking the status of my china and flatware, but honestly, I can get it cheaper (or at least as cheap) at my local department store. And honestly, I wonder about their customer service since my butter dish order turned into such a saga.
I completely recommend signing up for their wedding registry. Besides being a great place to get gifts, the bride receives a gift certificate. That's a really nice bonus.
The only really bad thing is that now I get a Ross-Simon catalog weekly, and their stock doesn't change weekly!
