Does that actually work? (Reply to this comment)
by siliconheroxl
I might try it (the redirect trick), but I'm worried that some of those people who send the spam messages may also get information about passwords for my website...

Sounds like... (Reply to this comment)

... you're using many chat protocols at once (as am I). I would suggest you check out Trillian (www.trillian.cc) which does all at once, and is actually rather usable (and in development, so getting better all the time)...
great review..

more info on the program itself, like the features that are in ICQ, which makes it stand out or different from other instant messengers such as MSN, Yahoo, etc.

Hmmm...usually I'd avoid opening any files from people I don't know. Normal chatting is ok but I tend to stay away from using a DCC connection. I've heard horror stories from friends who had their entire HD wiped out by viruses.

Don't get me started about the type of stuff I see being sent over the IRC. I use MIRC and am constantly getting sent that nasty virus that is sent in a .SHS file format disguised as something else.

...thanks for your comment. COuld this ICQ script be similar to something like flooding or nuking on MIRC?

Great analysis. (Reply to this comment)

I'm not saying that your crashes are caused by this, but there is (was) a way to cause another ICQ user's computer to restart among other commands, and you can even make a script so whenever they log on you can do it automatically.
That's a good line about comparing it to a Microsoft product. You are quite right in that it acts and is treated more like a Microsoft product than even Microsoft's chat program.
