It’s Time for the Third Annual All Things Disney Write-Off

The Bottom Line Is it too early to call it a tradition yet?  Probably, but I'm going to keep going until it is a tradition.

Fall has arrived, and in some parts of the country, that means it is turning colder.  (Okay, so we're having record heat in Southern California.  Work with me here.)  The last two falls, I've had fun hosting a Disney write-off, and I'm going to do it again.

Here's how it works.  You review anything related to Disney.  Anything at all.  Use your imagination - Walt Disney sure did.  Link back to this essay, let me know about it in the comments or the via e-mail, and I'll link it up here for you.

The ideas really are endless.  Obviously, any of Disney's animated or live action movies would work.  Many of the attractions at Disneyland and Disney World are listed in travel.  Disney has their own publishing company and record label, so anything from either of them would work.  Disney owns ABC, ABC Family, The Disney Channel, and even produces some TV shows for other companies, all of which would count.  And there are the many licensed toys and games based on Disney characters. I would be open to a writer's corner essay related to something Disney.  And if you are reviewing something that makes a reference to Disney, that counts, too.  If the connection to Disney isn't obvious, just explain it at the bottom of your review.

The last couple of years, I've been asked about negative reviews.  While this write-off is designed to be a celebration of Disney, I know they aren't perfect.  I've written some negative reviews the last two years.  So even if your review isn't glowing, please feel free to submit it.

And we do have some big birthdays to celebrate this year.  Disneyland turned 55 on July 17th.  (Which means it opened in '55.  I love that connection.)  Also, Pluto turns 80 this year.  But don't think your review must relate to any one of those.  As I said earlier, anything Disney related is fair game.

The write-off will be open for submissions starting on October 1st and will close on December 31st.  That gives you three months to submit entries.

As always, feel free to cross post your reviews in any other write-offs being hosted during these three months.  I know I plan to.  October features the Save Travel or Rest-In-Piece Travel Write Off, which seems like a natural fit.

Looking for ideas?  Here are links to the previous write-offs.

As a side note, my fifth anniversary on the site is coming up on October 3rd.  I can't think of a better gift than an entry in this write-off.  (Although if you want to send cash, I won't turn that down either.)

So get to plotting what you will be reviewing.  I look forward to seeing what you'll come up with this year.
