Let’s show that we care about travel. Note: Since October is over, I am no longer promoting this write-off. However, anyone is welcome to add late entries. I joined epinions.com a little more than two years ago and started writing in October of 2008. One category I fell in love with was travel. I think it is fun to read about travel experiences, and share travel experiences, and I know many others do as well. Epinions.com became a fun outlet for me to do so. Travel is not a category, or a sub category on shopping.com. I know nothing is set in stone, but as far as I know the plans are that it won't. In my opinion (you don't have to agree) all categories on epinions.com should continue to exist in some form, as a category, or a sub category. First many epinioneers have spent hundreds, perhaps thousands, of hours writing travel reviews through the years, and some have even accumulated millions of hits. Excluding travel from shopping.com sends a negative signal to those members who are active in travel in a number of ways, including the fact that those members might feel excluded. People who love writing in travel and also write in other areas may feel compelled to take all of their reviews elsewhere as well as their travel reviews. Some have already more or less left the site. Member toiletoctopus expresses how I feel better than I've done here in his essay "Passion&Experience Cannot Be Destroyed". The purpose of this write-off, which I will be holding during October, is to garner sympathy for travel whether that will make any difference or not. I hoping that as many as possible will submit one or more reviews to this write-off and leave a link to this write-off page at the bottom of the review. All travel reviews are naturally accepted, and so are reviews on other items related to travel. To give some examples: In Travel: Any travel review. In Books: Books about traveling, a book on an airline, or a book on hotels, the main character in the plot is traveling, a book on Geography. Software: Mapping software, Microsoft Streets and Maps, Learning software involving traveling (where in the world is Carmen San Diego), etc. Movies: Movies in which the main character is traveling, documentary movies about traveling, movies about traveling, etc. Music: Music featuring songs about traveling (like Iggy Pop's "The Traveler"), etc. Computers: Computer equipment that is useful when traveling, flash drives, CLEAR modems, Netbooks, PDA's, etc. Electronics: For example, cameras, cell phones, binoculars, GPS devices, and camcorders, are useful when traveling. Kids and Family: games and toys you used or could use when traveling, etc. Writers Corner: exciting travel stories. Etc. And on the list goes, I hope you get the idea, All reviews rated MH, VH, H, SH, and Express Reviews are welcome. Naturally everyone is welcome.
