Well, perhaps not all of your needs, but they can meet quite a few of them.
Most of you probably have at least one Walmart store near your home or work. Alas, I am not that fortunate. Even though I am in a major city in California, we are devoid of conveniently located Walmarts, and yes, I have felt neglected and left out.
I needed to purchase my two future step-grandchildren gifts for Christmas, and needed to ship them north of where I live. I tried several online sites, but had no success. Someone suggested I try Walmart, so I grabbed my mouse and started navigating the site.
I found there were several blue clickable tabs at the top of the site noting the following categories:
*Electronics
*Photo
*Video Games
*Toys
*Gifts
*Jewelry
*Home and Garden
*Sports
*Movies
*Books
*Music
They additionally offer a search function, but if you use that you'll need to know exactly what you are looking for. I was looking for a couple of books, but wasn't sure exactly what I wanted, therefore I clicked the blue tab for books, as opposed to trying to use the search.
Navigation:
The site isn't the easiest to navigate. It initially looks pretty simplistic, but it can be fairly time-consuming. However there were no error messages, and it did move quite quickly. I eventually found the books for which I was searching, placed them in the cart, paid by credit card, arranged for both gift cards to be included as well as gift wrap.
The presents arrived prior to Christmas without any difficulties whatsoever, and as ordered. I was worried as I had waited until just about the last minute, but Walmart came through for me.
Pricing:
They state their prices are low all the time. I didn't find them inexpensive, but they do have special clearances, such as 75% off on toys right now, and clearances on all items. You just have to check at the right time for the right product.
Special Offerings at Walmart:
They surprisingly offer what they call Walmart vacations, as well as a Photo Center. E-cards are available, and you can even purchase your prescriptions.
Customer Service:
I did not have any difficulties, so did not need to contact customer service. They do offer online customer service.
Shipping and Handling:
This varies by the item type and the size and weight. They have a fixed charge plus a per item charge per the website.
Standard 3-7 Business Days
Priority 2-3 Business Days
Express 1 Business Day
Freight Carrier is the only option for oversize or overweight purchases and that will take 7-14 days
Tracking:
You are offered the capability of tracking your order/orders on the website.
Extra:
They note product recall information which I found very interesting, so you can avoid products that might be problematic.
Don't know where the closest store is to your location? Check out their "locate a store" function.
Overall Thoughts:
I am thrilled to have a Walmart online as there isn't one convenient to my home, and I like to avoid traffic, parking, malls and grouchy, impatient shoppers, plus it is the only way I can shop in my robe and orangutan slippers.
They have a wide range of categories available, but the selection within those categories is pretty limited. Prices are pretty average as well as shipping costs. What impressed me the most was the convenience and the dependability. I ordered at the last minute. They came through on time without any problems. So, I recommend them highly if you can find what you are looking for and you are willing to pay just a bit more for the convenience of letting your mouse do your shopping.
