hey there all...
Eight years ago a mild-mannered user challenged his fellow writers here to "write concisely and 'to-the-point' about a product you would review anyway."
Believe me, I was stunned when seventy-some reviews were submitted that first year.
For the following seven years I (or my kind assistants) picked up the 'lean-n-mean' banner and challenged the community to, once again, write the VH and H and even SH product review. Past 'Lean-n-mean' reviews.
Well, 2010 is no different. So get your pixels ready, your neurons warmed up, and your red pencils sharpened . . .because 'Lean-n-Mean IX' is game on..!!
As always, the basic ground rules, essentially unchanged from day one:
• November 4, today, through December 1; twenty-eight days is plenty, right..??
• 657 words or less. ( though I am not counting them. 700 is probably OK, beyond that ... you are on your own; and you risk being called out as a fraud..! )
• Product reviews only, 'regular reviews' only.
• Overall-rated 'Somewhat Helpful', 'Helpful' and 'Very Helpful' reviews only.
• If you choose to, link back here at the bottom (or somewhere) on your review
• No 'delete and republish'.

• Recruit your fellow members.
• Invite strangers on the street.
• Involve your favorite (and perhaps not-so-favorite!) fellow writers.
• Talk some smack at another category ('books' vs 'movies' has been a traditional rivalry...)

-- If you wanna write an 'SH' review, go for it. Time I live up to my oft-stated 'write it like you want' creed. I do not think an SH review or three will pollute the 'lean-n-mean' pool.
-- I will link all reviews, so email an URL or leave a comment if you want 'linked up'. I always participate in write-offs as a stealth writer. I link back to the write-off essay but I do not bother letting them know about the review. The anonymous review and the link pointing to similar write-off reviews makes it rewarding enough for me. Again, you do what you want ...it is your review.
