Hotwire is playing the "overbooking" game the airlines have done for years

Ease of Ordering:
Hotwire is nothing like it use to be. We used them to book a one week stay in a nice boutique hotel in Atlanta and when we arrived at the hotel the young man informed me they were over booked and that the room we booked is taken and we'd have in a room that was only available for the day we were checking in, but only until tomorrow when they would move us across town to something they could find available. I thought that was just a mishap but evidently it is becoming common practice with hotwire and the hotels they are contracting. You book your room at the amazing fare but if someone is willing to pay more they bump you. My husband has to attend meetings in DC and they called last night and cancelled his room. You can't cancel your reservation with them but they can cancel the reservation they made for you and blame the hotel, who then plays innocent. What a scam they have going. Hotwire offered to book him in another room clear on the other side of town. When we said that wouldn't work they offered to refund our money but wouldn't refund the insurance we had purchased. If you book a room with them there is no longer the feeling of security you had before. You can show up at your hotel at midnight without a room.
