Pros:good fun for younger computer users
Cons:none
The Bottom Line: This is a fun game for young children.

I want to start by telling you who this game is for. My three year old son, Joe, recently started on the computer. Tonka Search and Rescue with character Tonka Joe is the perfect game for him.

The game works with Windows and Mac. I installed the game by inserting it into my drive and following the on screen directions.

When you first start the game Tonka Joe introduces himself and asks you to sign in. This way you can save your game. This is also how you create a printable ID card. On the card you'll enter your name, age,and the town you live in.

The next screen is the dispatch center. This is where you can get to all the rescue missions. You can also click on equipment and learn more about them.

There is a 911 button you click to get help. This appears on all the screens.

Before I get into the different missions I'd like to talk about the items your child can print. Along with the ID card , there are award buttons, Newspapers with your childs name as the headline, and a license plate.

One of the missions is at the Garage. Here it is your job to fix up some of the rescue vehicles. The firetruck needs the equipment put on it, the boat needs painting and details, and the helicopter needs fixing.

At the Training Academy you learn to put out fires with the firetruck, rescue people in the boat and rescue people and animals in the helicopter.

The Dock is the site of a warehouse on fire. First you must put the fire out. Then clear away the mess. There are people trapped on a boat to rescue and fires to put out on the water. When all the work is done a truck filled with items to make the dock look like new comes. You can place the items where-ever you'd like.

The Zoo has had an earthquake. There are cracks in the road, the train tracks need repair, the animals need rescue, and the animals' homes need repair.

The Flood Mission Site has a bridge that needs repair, cars that are stuck, and people and animals trapped.

Your child will learn about different vehicles, and equipment
used to repair and rescue. This game is also a great way to learn to use a mouse.

Tonka Joe is at every site to help your child and let them know what needs to be done first. This game says it's for 4 year olds and up but my 3 year old has had no trouble using this game.
