The Bottom Line My 2010 thankful list and my feelings about them.
In a couple of weeks we will be ringing in the New Year of 2011 so I thought today I would sit down and compose a list of the things and people that I have been thankful for in 2010. So without further adieu here is my list. Well the first thing that comes to mind is my family and really what are you if not an extension of your family. I was brought up right in a good home and taught the things that I would need to succeed in life and I can thank my parents for that. They are still very important, loved, and a source of inspiration for my husband and I and all of our family. My husband is my rock and he supports me in everything I do and try to do and he provides me with love that just gets stronger each day of my life. We have been together nearly thirty one years if you count the three years we dated - I have been with him since I was eighteen years old. He is my best friend and I love him dearly. I am thankful that in the year 2010 my daughter and I reconnected after some estrangement and I can’t tell you how happy and warm that makes me feel. I will always love her and I am always here for her. I realized this year that no matter what pain she causes us that I simply can’t shut her out of my life. I am her Mom and that would not only be impossible and not practical, but very painful for all of us. In this past year I found through Facebook my childhood friend Sue and we have enjoyed getting reacquainted with each other after all these long years apart. We have been there for each other through some tough times and we continue to be there for one another. She was instrumental in getting my daughter and I back on speaking terms and I can never repay her for that in a million years. I think it is time for us to go out to dinner again and I am definitely paying. I am thankful that Sue is back in my life and I thank God for that everyday. He is powerful and all knowing and he knew that Sue and I needed each other. I am thankful for the internet and Facebook for helping me reconnect with family and in making new friends who I love hearing from everyday. It was great that I was able to talk with my cousin who was in Afghanistan while on Facebook and it was fantastic to see his postings everyday and to be reassured by his words. It is amazing how many wonderful people are out there in this world and I wish you would hear more about them than the small percentage that cause all of the problems around the globe. I am thankful that my husband after having his job eliminated after twenty two years of employment with the same company was able to find a job within a month. To say we are blessed would be a huge understatement. He really loves this new job and although the pay is less he is happier and less stressed than he was before. As they say, money isn’t everything and that is so true in this case. While we are being thankful for jobs I just would like to give prompts to my job which I have been at for about one and a half years now. I too had my job eliminated and was blessed to find a job working with my former boss and some former co-workers. I love who I work for and who I work with and it is a pleasure to be a part of PIP. I am thankful for my beagles - Sadie, Zip, and Lucky - they are true sweethearts and they love us with unconditional love. It is fantastic to share our lives with them and I love them more each and every day. Just to see them greet us when we get home from work brings joy to my heart - the tail wagging, the barking, and yes, even the jumping - I love it all! From Lucky’s toys scattered about throughout the house to Zippy’s barking and to Sadie’s quirky and loving personality - how I enjoy their company. I am thankful that Terry and I were able to survive a tough year economically and that we didn’t lose our house and that we do not go hungry like so many people in this country. When you think about what could have happened I am glad that we came out on the other side of the tunnel so to speak. Faith, love, and yes, luck, played a major role in us surviving this year. Our health was another blessing that we are thankful for and not just our health but our parents health as well. For the most part we had no major health and medical set backs in 2010 and we are truly grateful for this. I am thankful for all the men and women who serve and continue to serve in the armed forces to protect us all and guard our freedom. Without them we would not be the country we are today and lets always remember them in our prayers. I am definitely thankful for all who plow and salt our roads in the winter and plant and maintain the beautiful gardens in the spring and summer. You make our everyday existence possible and bearable and I for one commend all that you do. I am thankful for the warmth of the sun and cool breezes in the summer and the beautiful colors of the flowers and leaves in spring and fall. Winter can have its own beauty and although I hate to drive in it snow can be quite beautiful in itself. I don’t think I could ever live in a climate that has only one or two seasons, I am use to having all four seasons of beauty to gaze upon. I really love the way the snow glistens on the trees and it is wondrous after a snowstorm to see the different transformations that take place. And last but surely not least I want to thank God for making everything possible - not just for 2010 but for every year of my life. I thank him for all the blessings in my life, big and small, from the simplest to the most complex - it is him and my faith in him that make it all come true. Here is wishing that 2011 is a better year than 2010 was and I hope everyone reaps the blessings that have been bestowed on me. I hope you all have a happy, healthy, safe, and prosperous new year and that 2011 brings many blessings to you and your family. Piglet 2061 2010 |
