There are only so many clothing stores that I find offer high quality, fashionable, and well-priced clothing - all at the same time. Certain stores have very low cost clothing, but it may only last you a few months. Many upper-end stores have very fashionable and well-made clothing - but you'll have to skip a mortgage payment if you wish to shop there. J. Crew is one of the few stores that embodies all three qualities that I look for when shopping for clothes, and I'm almost always content with my purchases whether I shop in-store or online. J. Crew's website - http://www.jcrew.com - specializes in clothing items and accessories, especially sweaters, t-shirts, belts, and neat-casual shirts. The website itself is set up in a way which is easy to navigate. The home page doesn't utilize Flash or any other software which makes loading slow, and the plain white background makes it easy on the eyes. The home page is split into categories which are immediately accessible - women, men, kids, shoes, handbags, jewelry, wedding, and sale. There is also a search bar where you can type in a keyword or item number, and there are also a couple of areas which tout new products and promotions. I have utilized the J. Crew website many times, so this review isn't based on just one experience. I have used it to purchase button-down shirts, flip flops, belts, and even cashmere sweaters. The men's shop is very easy to navigate; one can shop by features (such as new arrivals and popular vintage items), shop by category (such as sleepwear and vests), online shops (catalog exclusives or vacation items), special sizes, or sale items. I personally like the layout - it offers users a convenient way for seeing what's available by category, and also shows the sheer size of J. Crew's selection. The fact that it has such a considerable amount of men's items is a big plus in my book - many clothing stores fail to have such adequate selection, and this is probably one of the biggest reasons I love the store. Viewing items is rather straightforward and easy to navigate. Large thumbnail images display the item, and they are accompanied by the name and price of the item. When clicking on the image, you can "zoom" in on the item, select it in different colors, look at sizing options, and read more details about what it's made of and its features. You can even "like" certain items and post them on your Facebook, and for those who aren't exactly fashion-forward or need a second opinion, men shopping at J. Crew can e-mail "Jack" for style advice, tips and questions. The latter is a pretty awesome feature in theory, but I have yet to use it. An online chat may be a little more helpful for those who make impulse buys (like me!). Placing an order is generally just as easy and painless. Returning customers can enter their e-mail and password, or you can choose to skip that by checking out as a guest. Those who have J. Crew credit cards can pay with that, or you can also use any of the big credit/debit card issuers. Before placing the order, there is a final price including tax and shipping (which changes from time to time, but is reasonable and sometimes free depending on various promotions). Once placing the order, I always receive a confirmation e-mail. All items that I have ever ordered have arrived within 5 business days, in perfect condition, and without any defects or mishaps. Overall, I would certainly recommend the J. Crew online store. The website has a huge selection of men's, women's, and children's clothing and accessories. I have always been impressed with the style and quality, and the prices are generally reasonable. There are certainly some higher-priced items - and some are overpriced if you ask me - but sales are sometimes considerable and even offer surprisingly deep discounts. My credit card is always charged correctly, and I have never had issues with shipping or customer service. In conclusion, I would not hesitate to recommend the J. Crew website.
