There must be a better airport hotel than Quality Suites (Reply to this comment)

I stayed at the Quality Suites in March/03 and While it was convenient to the airport the satellite for the TV wasn't working. I was told it was "being fixed". Read a review recently where the writer was given the same excuse. The aftenoon and evening was spent lying on the bed reading. BBBOOOORRRIIINNGGG. A walk around the hotel grounds took up a whole 10 minutes. I'd only use this hotel if you're checking in late and leaving early. That way you might not notice how run down it was.

Next trip in October/04 I'm booked at the Asia Airport Hotel which is above a shopping mall with cinemas, shopping - something to do I hope.

I booked the 2 bedroom deluxe suite through asiahotels.com for 3700 baht. When I got to the hotel they charged a little over 4300 baht. They added the 7% vat and a 10% "service charge" on top of the rate I had gotten. We'd been in Thailand a month and stayed several places, this is the first time we had this done and it seemed like a scam to me. They said I must not have looked carefully at the rate, that it had said 3700 , the " " being the vat and service charge.

Rooms were quite bland as mentioned in the other review, but the food in the restaurant was quite good. Beware of the lobster bisque though, it tastes like cream of potato soup.

I would not stay here again, as I felt like the upcharges were unethical.
