Bought this washer after my stinkin LG just died during a wash after only 2 years of 4-5 loads per week with no power or surge failure at the time and I even had it hookup to a power conditioner. This is why you buy a extended warranty. It ended up too much troublesome to fix which is normal for LG per my repair Techs and its also well known.

The Whirpool was rated #1 in a consumer's publication, made here in Ohio, and being secretly direct drive were my buying considerations.
Quieter than my previous washer in all aspects, uses less water around 12 gal, and spins faster which in turn my cloths do actually come out a little dryer, and tub is .3 cf bigger for more clothes. But the best thing is it hardly makes any noise or vibration on the 1400 high spin comparing my previous model that actually shook parts of the house and my chandelier in downstairs dinning room. So far we ( I ) love it and like doing the wash.
