I called AJ Madison to inquire about a Rohl faucet and apron front fireclay sink in March. I placed the order with them because they claimed both were in stock (other vendors I contacted told me the faucet was backordered and not available for weeks). AJ Madison was not the lowest price, but they were competitive. Most importantly, they claimed the products I were after were available.
I was upset a week later when I contacted them to confirm delivery and was told that the faucet would be available late-April (some 5-6 weeks later). Our kitchen remodel would be delayed. The sink did arrive when anticipated, and was left on my door step while I was at work. There was no opportunity to sign for receipt or inspect the package at that time. When I called back to confirm anticipated faucet delivery, I was told "sorry, I have no idea" and "but it looks like your sink will ship out soon!" The rep was understandably embarrassed when I mentioned that we were already in receipt of the sink, and voiced frustration with the misinformation she was provided, suggesting it was common.
We set up the sink on our base cabinet and discarded the box before noticing a 8" hairline crack running the vertical length of the sink wall. I contacted AJ Madison and was told that they would contact Rohl and that I could expect a new sink and perhaps return our defective one in the box the new one shipped out in. I then contacted Rohl and was told that they didn't have a relationship with AJ Madison at all, and that they must be buying their products from a 3rd party. (Something is fishy here.) In any case, I had to follow up with AJ Madison's customer service department on every occasion as they never contacted me on their own accord. On the date they told me to expect confirmation that a new sink would be in route, I was sent an email from AJ Madison's Customer Support team quoting their website's return policy (no original packaging, no dice; after 48 hours, too bad) and signed off with "Have a great day!" They had to be joking. My inquiries since to understand what, if any, options I have available have gone unanswered.
From what I can tell, AJ Madison is a shell company looking to sell anything to anyone. They have little knowledge of their products, and could very well be just a handful of folks sitting around in an apartment in Brooklyn processing orders. I doubt they are ever actually in possession of anything they claim to carry. They take NO responsibility, offer misleading information (in my case, more than once), and appear only interested in closing the deal.
I'm left with a brand new $900 sink with a crack running down the back. I regret having done business with AJ Madison and urge you to think twice before doing so yourself.
