Sega Dreamcast...Gone but not forgotten.

Written: Feb 05 '02
Pros:It has good graphics and connects to the internet for game play.
Cons:Big controller and no more new games.
The Bottom Line: The system is an excellent system for the price even though no more games are being made. The price is right and the graphics are great.

I would first like to say if this system would not have gone down to $50 - $60 dollars...I would have not bought it. Why? Because I just became addicted to the Sony Playstation and wanted to get the PSX2;however, I just can't afford that right now so I thought $60 dollars for a system of equal value was excellent.

I have dealt with sega products before and have enjoyed them...this is no different. Although there are no more game to be made for the US anymore, there are still plenty of good games that are highly enjoyable: Dead or Alive 2, Shenmue, and if you can get an import: Shenmue 2. These are just a few of the excellent games. Also, if you get this system I highly recommend that you pick up the Sega sports series, they could have been a good rival for EA Sports.

There are plenty of great accessories for this system, which are now, of course, cheaper. The keyboard, which is almost necessary for online play is around $10. The gun, which runs around $20. The VMU's, which although run out of battery power quickly, are one of the greatest features of the system because you can play mini-games on them while away from your system and can often affect how things go inside the game. These are usually around $10 per. The controllers are usually around $10-$15. The games themselves usually run anywhere from $5 - $40 dollars depending on the release and popularity of the game. Imports, of course, are more.

For the price, this system can't be beat. It will certainly hold you if you can't currently afford one of the new systems. Especially the PSX2, which is my preferred system out of the new systems.

Also, to let you who is reading this, there have been press releases, although very silently, they are going to release the systems and more games in Japan again. Although they probably won't for the US again. This of course is because of the great demand for the system over Christmas time. Although there may be no more new US games, if you can at least pick of some Japanese, you may want to pick up the new games as imports. Just a thought.
