There is a huge difference between the east coast and west coast Walgreens stores. There's an even bigger difference between going to a location and picking up supplies and having them delivered. I ordered testing supplies from them after being completely irked by my former provider and their insane refill system. When I first hooked up with them I had no idea that I had a choice of who I could get my test strips and supplies from; they capitalized on my stupidity and milked my insurance company for every penny they could get then turned around and said that I was responsible for the new meter I was sent 'before' I was eligible for one. I called and got everything set up with Walgreens because they claim to offer free shipping on prescriptions. There are local stores I could go to but none that are in my usual shopping area and the one that is close is in a really, really seedy area. I let the insurance company and the doctors office handle the bulk of the paperwork; Walgreens seemed like they were on top of things until I got the first box of strips and lancets. Both items were wrong. The test strips were Walgreens brand, not the name brand ones that I use and the lancets were for a completely different finger pricker that didn't even come close to fitting. OK, one mistake is allowable because it is a new account and things happen. I called to make a exchange and was told I could take them to a local store to exchange them for the ones I wanted / needed. Not so. Since the lancets were opened they wouldn’t do an exchange and the clerk said I had to send them back and order replacements for the test strips. Thankfully I hoard my strips and have about a month reserve at any give time. I got the run around from customer service so no one knows what is going on or what the return policies are on certain items. Eventually I got so sick of looking at the box of test strips I printed up a return sticker, put everything in a box and sent it back to them. I called several times to find out if the box was received and if a credit was made to my account so I could get the strips I needed and that was another headache. It was received but the contents were still being examined. If you aren’t a diabetic or don't buy test strips you might not know about the resale price of things. There are companies that buy testing supplies from people; some sites pay as much as ten dollars a box. This is why some medical supply stores and companies have stickers all over the boxes so they can not be resold. That doesn’t stop people from selling them, they just get more creative with removing the stickers. I have to assume that they wanted to check the boxes to make sure that the test strips were still safety sealed. When it was all said and done I wasted a lot of time with calls and promises of email updates that never came. I expected more from this website and was disappointed. The site is easy to navigate and they do have a lot of products to offer but actually getting what you order seems to be an issue. I have since switched to another testing supply site but they aren't much better. If I order test strips I want them in a box with a safety seal, not loose. Once the container is open you only have a set amount of time to use them before you ca get inaccurate readings from them. That means retesting, wasted strips and frustration. I doubt I will use the Walgreens site again. Customer service means a lot to me and from my experience they just don’t seem to know what is going on. My insurance company was diligent with getting an approval for another batch of supplies but it did involve multiple phone calls and having to go through all of the details a couple of times. I have no idea how they handle other prescription orders but personally I would double check everything before opening anything because there are things that are problematic to try and return or exchange. The website does say that you can make exchanges on purchases made online at retail stores but there are exclusions. While test strips aren't listed I was told that it is up to each individual store and management to monitor returns to prevent fraud. They might have a well stocked website but that doesn't mean you are going to get what you ordered. ^V^ ©Freak369 - 2011 ^V^ CVS Pharmacy CrossBorderPharmacy The Vitamin Bin NVE Pharmaceuticals Craig Medical Distribution Amputee Supply
