I have ordered many many things from Overstock, from small stuff like a flashdrive to large furniture like sectional overstuffed chairs. I have had very good shopping experiences with this site.
Pro’s: As usual for On-line shopping, what draws you to the site is all about the price. That you can check it for yourself, It's not like everything here is cheaper than somewhere else, you must check to be sure, but an abundance of products are less expensive and then you pay No sale tax, basically no shipping cost – ($2 - practically free!) and you don’t spend gas to go out and buy it.
Con’s: The return policy. Most of things I bought here met my expectations. But that’s because I knew what I was paying for, sometimes the things just so good that I can't believe it. The one problem you run into is if something is different than the description or the quality so inferior you need to return the item, they do not make returns easy at all. Almost as if they want to make it as difficult as possible.
I have purchased several items from them of fair price and fair quality; so I thought I'd try a larger item. Bought a pair of lamps. One arrived with the light socket portion broken. Replacement was made promptly. Dealing with customer service was great but that to me, is where their quality ends. The felt on bottom of lamp replaced extends beyond its base in some parts and in the other lamp the paint is chipped in places. Nothing major, but still annoying. The description was too exaggerated, their quality not even close. I was not aware that the item was non-returnable. I was told that it was stated in their product description. That's true, it's there. I went back to look at the description. However as a customer, I expect to be able to return something if I'm not fully satisfied. I feel I could've gotten something similar from Wal-Mart at 1/4 of the price I paid for these lamps. My advice is to be extra careful, read everything before you place your order. Buyer Beware is very very true. You must read every detail when you purchase online. Just like when you are in a store and the price is so low it seems to good to be true and you say “ok – what’s the catch”
