It's Elementary, My Dear Watson! Write Off.
I am planning on doing a Write Off in October, about horror, specifically, the works of H.P. Lovecraft, but I wanted something to do until then. Then it came to me; I recently got a puppy for my birthday. He is a long haired Chihuahua, and his name is Dr. Watson, after my favorite sidekick from literature. So I thought to myself, why not a Mystery Write Off? Miss Marples, Hercule Poirot, Brother Cadfael, literature is replete with detectives. And so is real life. Here is one I bet you wouldn't think of ; Lorenzo's Oil. It's movie about a family whose son has a demylinating disease, the insulation on his nerves coming unraveled. There was no treatment, so his mother and father became experts, and found an effective treatment for boys like their son. That is excellent detective work. House M.D. fits as well, I should think. And given the theme, extra points for anything Sherlock Holmes. I thought about running this just for the month of September, but if it goes well, maybe we will keep it going until Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows comes out in December. So, dig up your favorite whodunit, put on your gumshoes, and dig in. Books and Movies are obvious choices, but Games offer quite an assortment, and kids and family (I'm thinking specifically Scooby Doo toys.) But anything goes as long as it revolves around Mysteries.
