Pros:Easy to use.
Cons:Difficult installation if you ever change operating systems. Not very good software.
The Bottom Line: It's not versatile...unless you only use it for taking pictures inside your office, in which case you're all set.
I've had my IBM PC Camera for almost 2 years now. It's a pretty durable piece of equipment. I have moved several times, and have dropped it even more times (I don't like putting sticky stuff on my monitor, so it falls) and it keeps on ticking.
It serves its purpose, but not much more. At the time I bought it, it was much more expensive than they are now (I paid $100!), and it was touted by my friends in the IT industry as one of the best cameras you could get. Now, I am not sure if they meant that, or if they were just trying to get rid of it by passing it on to me, but I don't really think it's all that great.
The resolution is okay, I suppose, but I have never seen a PC camera with a bad resolution...this is my first one, so I don't have a comparison. The color tends to be off...I noticed that my green sweater looked like a reddish-brown on the screen...but that, at least, is adjustable with the software. My major gripe with it is that it is NOT versatile at all. It plugs directly into a USB port on your computer, which is nice since it is powered through the computer and needs no batteries or other plugs. But, that being the case, it must stay with your computer in order to have power. If your computer is in your office, and you want to take a picture of something in your living room, you are out of luck, unless you feel like unplugging the computer, taking it into the other room, plugging it in, and then taking the picture.
I don't recommend this camera, because there are so many pictures to be taken outside of your office. Family outings, weddings, the great outdoors...if you want more enjoyment out of your digital camera, get one that doesn't need an umbilical cord to your PC.
