Our family has tried a wide variety of natural, botanical cleaners and though we really like the message and belief behind them, as well as the natural ingredients listings, often we've found that they do not perform or clean as well. We've tried a number of Seventh Generation products and few have really cleaned well, though all smell great and have a great concept behind them.
On the end cap of a store one day we saw this product, Seventh Generation Disinfecting Multi-Surface Cleaner, in a spray bottle and decided to try. It claimed to be able to be used on a variety of surfaces and to disinfect as well! With a 5 person home, 3 of them children, plus 5 indoor pets, we need all the help we can get!
Our bottle was tastefully done in whites and greens and was an easy spray bottle to use, typical of many spray bottle cleaners on the market. This particular bottle claims to:
"Kills over 99.99% of household germs, specifically: Influenza A viruses including H1N1, Rhinovirus (type 37, the Common Cold virus), Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella enterica, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa on hard, nonporous surfaces."
The bottle also claims that this product is streak free and does not need wiping. (if desired) The scent is lemongrass and thyme and is fairly strong. I find it clean smelling, but some my find it off putting.
The main place I use this Seventh Generation Disinfecting Multi-Surface Cleaner in in the kitchen. I use this spray to clean off our counters after preparing meals. Typically I spray the counter the first time and use the sponge to wipe up any spills or food. Then I spray the counters again and allow the product to air dry on the counters as instructed on the packaging. I also use this cleaner to spray down and clean out the two stainless steel sinks after cleaning up the dishes. I then use the vegetable sprayer to rinse off the product. I also use this cleaner to clean our dish drainer, since all of our dishes are hand washed. Typically I spray this product and then use the vegetable sprayer and sponge to clean the dish drainer.
What's really elevated this product to a #1 cleaner in my home though is how safe it is to use and how it can be used in other areas. I've bene able to use this spray on my bathroom floor tiles when one of the pets urinated in the corner and nothing else seemed to take away the odor. I also use this spray to clean off both my daughters' toddller bed mattresses (those plastic coated ones) which I've noticed can hold odors when I've cleaned them - when using something like a Lysol wipe I've noticed this Seventh Generation product takes away the odor much more effectively.
This Seventh Generation Disinfecting Multi-Surface Cleaner really can be used on multi-surfaces and I feel its disinfecting claims are true. It is a bottle I won't be without.
