Pop Rocks With A Marvel Heroes Twist: Iron Man Exploded In My Mouth!

The Bottom Line: If you like Pop Rocks and think these three heroes are cool, then grab these and get poppin'!
It's hard to find a good popping candy these days. Pop Rocks are a great product but they have gotten a little expensive and haven’t really expanded their flavors in a while. When I saw the Marvel Heroes boxes at the store I patiently waited for someone to open them. In addition to another case of my beloved Marvel Heroes Taffy they also got in the Marvel Heroes Popping Candy, Marvel Heroes Sour Sticks and another box of something else that was buried all the way at the bottom of the pallet. I didn’t have an hour to kill to wait and see what they mystery box was but you can bet I will be there tomorrow to see exactly what it is. What is it? It's a crackling candy in a pouch with a sucker. Lick the sucker, stick it in the pouch, put it back in your mouth, enjoy. Really. That's all there is to it. How do you eat it? There are a couple different ways. First you can be a pig and dump the whole pack in your mouth at one time but that sort of limits the fun. I did it the old school way and sucked on the sucker then dipped it in the pouch; I was really surprised at the popping power on these! Seriously. I am not kidding. Even after I swallowed a small amount that was stuck to the sucker I could still feel a couple of them popping in my throat. The flavors are pretty sweet too. I was expecting these to really bite in regards to overall flavor but both the popping rocks and the suckers were really awesome. The stick is short and plastic but it is hollow so it is something that is regarded 'safer' for kids. Spider-Man = Strawberry The Hulk = Sour Apple Iron Man = Blue Raspberry If you want to get a lot of the popping candy on the sucker at one time you are going to have to bite the thumb off of it. Cutting the pouch down to about an inch will allow you to get all the way in there and really load it up but then you are pretty much stuck without a way to save any left over popping candy. I do have to forewarn you, once you open the pouch the clock is ticking. When I opened one of them and started snacking on it the candy pieces were all loose; not even five minutes later they started clumping because of the humidity. The nutritional values are pretty much what I expected; each pouch is considered one serving and contains 66 calories, 15 grams of carbohydrates, no protein and no fat. They break it down for you for the sucker and for the popping candy but I saved you the time of doing the math on them. This is pretty much all sugar so I hope you aren’t expecting something even remotely healthy from it. Even so, for a dollar for three pouches it's a pretty good deal and if you only have one pack a day, the 66 calories aren't going to kill you. If you open the pack carefully using the side notch you'll be able to fold the top of it over the body of the pouch if you have left over popping candy. Chances are if you are licking and sucking the lollipop over and over the candy inside the pouch is going to get soggy and won't have the snapping and popping effect in your mouth. I love the suckers because of the color of it and that you can easily see through it. All of the suckers have a cute "thumbs up" design to them and the 'flavor' of the Marvel Hero matches the companion popping candy. I have to admit, I didn’t think that the suckers would be this good but the strawberry flavor simply blew me away. I wish they sold these separately because I would be all over them. I bought five packs of these [each pack has three pouches] and gave them to some of the kids that were at the house. One of the younger ones said, "If you close your eyes, it feels like its raining in your mouth". It took me a minute to get what he was trying to put into words but yes, if you can imagine the inside of your mouth getting hit with rain, that pretty much sums up the Marvel Heroes Popping Candy experience. ^V^ ©Freak369 - 2011 ^V^ Marvel Heroes Taffy Heart Bursts With Crackling Candy Crazy Dips Power Rocks Xtrawberry Skull Pops With Crackling Candy Pop Rocks Crackling Candy Pop Rocks Pumpkin Patch Orange Another sugary sweet entry into the 2011 funny Pages Write Off happening now until the end of July!
