The Speedcook is awesome, you just don't know how to use it (Reply to this comment)

I think this reviewer under-rated this microwave/oven.

First he says: "One very common task, microwaving my coffee for 50 seconds is not even possible on the Advantium ! If I select the express microwave I can choose 30 or 60 second period. Alternatively I can select 'microwave', and dial around blindly for 'custom time', then select either 45 or 60 seconds. Alternatively I can select the 'beverage' heating option which appears to use a humidity sensor, and I'll end up with very oveheated coffee. I have three ways to do the wrong thing and no way to do the right thing."

This is actually quite simple to do. Just hit the Express microwave button twice, then turn the dial counter-clockwise 10 clicks and it cuts 10 seconds off the 60. 60 - 10 = 50. You can even push the dial in and it will tell you how long the total time is.

Aside from that - the Speedcook options are awesome. In fact today I made some mini-eggrolls for lunch. I was surprised that under speedcook/snacks/ sure enough, there was "Mini-Eggrolls". 9 minutes later, they were done. Changing from the glass plate to the black one takes seconds, and is not a big deal.

The only negative I have seen from this appliance is the internal light does not always turn off when the door is closed.

I was going to write a review of my 120 unit. Once I read yours I knew there was no need. You absolutely hit all the points in your review. This thing is great as long as what your cooking is round!
As for the person who was confused by your review, maybe they need a break from this stuff. You did very well.

Should have gotten 220 version (Reply to this comment)
by awmcdonald
This review is for the 110 volt version. In order to fully benefit from speedcook you need the 220 volt version (which requires a different outlet, like your electric range or clothers dryer).

GE originally only made the 220 volt version, but due to lack of sales made a 110 volt version for retro-fits.

If you're doing a new house, regardless of whether you're going to buy one of these, put a 220 outlet in your range/hood area just in case.

Advantium 120 (Reply to this comment)

I've only had the Advantium oven for a short time
but have cooked some wonderful meals. It's ease of use and programming are very logical. I
haven't found one disadvantage yet but with everything there probably are some limitations. I love it! It does pizza (fresh) to perfection. Baking is a breeze. Haven't tried roasting yet or broiling but that's next. So far I give it
5 stars out of 5.

Welcome to epinions! This is a very informative review, but I was a little confused by your brief update at the end of the review, as you are new to the site.

At any rate, if I can help in any way, please feel free to email me. My email gif is on my profile page.
