Good saw for short duration use.

Written: Feb 12 '02 (Updated Feb 12 '02)
The Bottom Line: Above average because the low cost makes this saw a good value for short duration use. Good power and solid feel.

I have used this saw for short periods over the last 2 months. It has ample power for sawing through cabinets, holes in floors, cutting up junk wood, etc. I burned up my jig saw during the cabinet work and decided to use this for some trim work. A bit like using a sledge for tacs, but I was impressed with the control I was able to exert over the cut. Although, it has never really done anything to indicate it might be over-worked, from past experience with low-cost tools (like the jig-saw), I would not run it for more than 10-15 minutes without giving it some cool-down time. The blade is not particularly easy to remove, the allen screw can be a little awkward to get at, depending on the position of the blade when it stops. Another allen screw is used to adjust the shoe for depth of cut. It came with the case and a blade. I purchased additional Morse reciprocating saw blades.
