Bell 39230 Cordless Phone

Written: Feb 13 '02
Pros:Price, functionality
Cons:Lacks many features of more expensive phones
The Bottom Line: For under $20, this phone is a better value than any of its competitors. If you're looking for a phone, but dont want to spend $70, this is for you.

I acquired this phone at best buy for about $15. There was a mail in rebate on the product, but i have yet to receive it (The "4-6 weeks" has lasted well over a year) but needless to say, $15 for a well performing cordless phone is still quite the deal. I use this phone mainly at school(a relatively small college dorm, about 100 rooms) where it performs admirably through cinderblock walls and only God knows how much interference throughout the building. It was stated in a student move in book that cordless phones should be avoided because they tend not to work in a dorm atmosphere, however, this phone provides clear reception and a great deal of range from the base unit. Granted, the phone does not have a caller id window, or a built in answering machine, but its speed dial works fine (9 number memory) and the "page" feature makes the headset easy to locate wherever it might happen to be. Battery life is also excellent, without all kinds of other features to run, the headset battery will provide about 4.5-5 (give or take) hours of talk time. All around, this phone is a far greater value than anything else i have seen.
