I work at Bed Bath and Beyond in Bellingham, Washington. Since I've worked there one of the bigest things we try and promote is our bridal registry and website. The two really do go hand in hand. We are taught to go all the way out to help customers, and providing as much service as possible is a way to do that.
Now, although you can't get the customer service you would in the store while shopping online, there are still many features that are even easier to access. Our online catalog is more reliable than shopping in our store, for the matter that we are never out of stock on an item. Yes you have to pay for shipping, but at least you know it's there, and will arrive in a timely manner.
Our bridal registry can all be done online, just as purchasing items off the registry can be done online as well. You can change information, add and delete items, and update any registry info you wish. The information is kept in our system a year from the date of the event, and if anyone ever needs to return anything purchased off the registry they don't even need a reciept... heck you can even get cash back, as long as it's a registry item... at any store.
Any item that is purchased online can be returned at any Bed Bath and Beyond store with reciept of purchase, otherwise you will recieve store credit.
As for shipment of items, they are always packed well and tight in popcorn or bubblewrap, and shipped in a more than timely manner. I've never had a single customer complain about the shipping, in fact, most often I have customers tell me the opposite, that their item arrived days before planned. It really depends upon a few things, but we try to be fast so we know our customers will be satisfied.
I think our products offered are wonderful. I often spend much of my paycheck on our items, and though sometimes they can be overpriced, we will meet any competitors price. I like working for the company, I think they have much more integrity than my previous employer, Home Depot, and the people who run the buisness do it well. It is a company that treats both customers and employees well, and a business I will support now, and in the future. Even if I decide to work somewhere else someday.
