"Package security" and "leader in secure and reliable delivery practices". Just sales pitches.
I ordered 2 dozen roses for my fiancee to be delivered on Valentine's Day 2002. I ordered 3 weeks in advance and even got a nice email stating the flowers would be delivered no later than 02/14/2002. Fine, they might be delivered a few days earlier, but she'd still have the flowers in time for Valentine's Day. The flowers never arrived.
I used their online tracking feature and found out that the flowers just left the FedEx sorting facility in Tennesee at 4:16pm 02/14/02. The flowers were supposed to be delivered to Los Angeles, California. I proceeded to get in contact with 1800flowers to see why my gift is still in transit.
I tried their online chat feature. It was disabled. A web page informed me that it was not functional and to try their 1800 number. The 1800 number was busy. Took me a dozen attempts to get through. I got disconnected twice while on hold and when I finally did get somebody live, it was only after 45 minutes of waiting. And in the end all they could offer was a different ship date or a refund. That still doesn't fix the problem. My fiancee still has no flowers on Valentine's Day.
Really, really, rethink ordering flowers from 1800flowers.com on major holidays.
